Unlike all those eternal optimists who were predicting easy wins on other threads (c'mon people, we have the best team for pulling defeats out of the jaws of victory), I will take a 3 point victory and the bonus, at this stage....

Heat 12 and, 8 down, we put PK in on 15 metres. Ronnie is sandwiched and stitched up by BnB and halfway through lap 1 we are looking at 1-5. MM2 reckons the red mist descends on the Rocket and he passes both (one outside the other inside) and in so doing wrecks both Eagles lines. Cue Wagnerian music and PK emerges like a man possessed and coming out of turn 2 of lap 2 we are on a 8-1.
Oh, and we just got a 5-1 in 13!

I had a huge visceral response to this description, Martin... Thanks to you and MM2, great reporting!

And then heat 14 came along. Oh boy, the life of a Wolves fan! 5-1 or bust for the bogey in 15....

Then Freddie messes up 14 and we are back to where we were. Need a 5-1 for the bonus, a 4-2 for the win.

BILLY flies from gate 1 and PK follows him home for the 5-1 we needed. Norris slides off on turn 3 and appeals for something. Ref ignores him and he exits stage left pursued by a wolf.
We did it, but should it have been this close?

What a rollercoaster of a novel, Baldrick (Edmund, a Butler's Tale). We may have played all of our 'Get Out Of Jail Free' cards tonight.
Ten mins ago I was wondering if I had foolishly pledged my money to watch these meetings every week on DVD. Now I know I made the right choice.
Thank you Billy for getting your act together in the last two heats. Thank you Ronnie for heat 12. Thank you Peter for the whole night - what a performance!!!
Now, we need a couple of riders to sort themselves out.

Oh and thank you 8 for the updates - crystal clear as usual, and thanks to the "few" for sharing tonight's bizarre meeting online with me. Phew

The sigh of relief heard around the world!!!! I was incredibly nervous as I hit the refresh button! It's the result we all wanted, but boy, was it CLOSE! Never a dull week at The Green, eh? Thanks for the updates, Martin... Much appreciated as ever! All I need now is a few DVDs!
