Spot on Steve! Keep the top 3 - use Mikey on his low average and try and find some potential to fill the other 3 places............ The top 4 of PK, Billy, Freddie and Max may well sound good and look very powerful, but having those four would (if limit raised to 42.5) leave us with about 10 points to sign three riders. Thats exactly what Belle Vue tried this season and it didnt work for them so why would it work for us ?

Meaningless heat 15: PK last with bike problems. The bonus point is won but our hopes are extinguished. Thanks for the company and to Lawt for the news. Was this Magnus' last EL appearance for Wolves? I think it will be

Well, this was the nearly team - those away matches we nearly won in March & April! Still, we were in it up to match 39 of the season. Way better team than the 2005 lot and hope that we keep the strong top end for 2007 whilst making the middle & bottom stronger - some teams have these 2nd strings and reserves who can dominate on occasion home or way - we lacked in this department in 2006. Hope we don't panic and bring in riders who have prooved in the past they are not the solution. Absolutely. I suspect we'll see WILLIAM doubling up again. The top 3 with MIKAEL looks stronger but I do hope we don't return to using riders who have disappointed before.

What #'s do you have for their averages, less the bonus points? And what are David Howe's away and home averages this year?

Thanks for the updates '8' and to Lawt for the calls. I'm no good at debating who should ride and who shouldn't, so I'm off to bed Bring on the Olympic and the Fireworks See some of you tomorrow? Nighty night.

David Howe currently on about 6.17. Too many to be at reserve where he would be effective but at 2 or 4 for the season would he add significantly to his average?
We want what all teams do: a 4.0 assessed rider who comes in and averages 6 or 7. Know anyone?

I take Smolinski out my fantasy team and all of a sudden he decides to score like that lol, A result though that was on the cards

After missing a few matches for various reasons I took the opportunity to add my weight to the Wolves support. Not that it was needed; I've never known such a flat atmosphere at Brandon. We let it slip away through poor gating, then pulled it back a bit through some good fortune and a couple of unexpected results, but their final heat 5-1 made the final score fairly representative of how it was overall. Very impressed with Smolinski, whose outside swoops into the third bend left our boys looking foolish.
So to the Craven Shield and our group matches with our near neighbours Eastbourne and Ipswich. Why not Coventry, Belle Vue and/or Peterborough? Is this some sort of conspiracy to dissuade us from travelling to the away legs? Our progress depends very much on which riders take it seriously enough, but frankly I'm not all that fussed about an end-of-season filler competition.

I agree Wolfgang. It sounded much more exciting on here than it actually was on the track. I thought this match pretty much summed up our season. We started quite hopeful, only to realise it was more through hope than expectation. Dropped behind but still had the faint hope of a comeback... then fell at the penultimate fence.
We gave it a go without really looking like winning. Our season wasn't lost here, rather I think our inconsistent home form was our undoing.
Never mind the Craven Shield... I want to see us lift that Midland Trophy. Hmmm...

Not too sure on his home and away averages, but he is currently on 5.50 without bonus points. Sadly for us, this has shot up over the last two months as his form has improved alot and was on an average around 4.70 some 8 weeks ago.
True, Freddie may be able to add a point to his average, but will Mikael ?
He had admitted he is having concerns about his ability now. This could be in his mind, but will he ever average over 8 again . . . ?
If the points limit raises to 42.50, then PK, Billy, Freddie and Max in the top 4 will leave the doubling up Lawson at #2 or #3 with two 3.00 riders at reserve.
1. PK 2. Max 3. Lawson / ? or Magnus 4. Freddie 5. Billy 6. 3.00 7. 3.00
As I said earlier, this is very much like the Belle Vue team this season . . . great at home . . rubbish away due to the weak reserves
I think that the possible (?) move for Lindback may well be the way ahead and maybe PK may not be over here next season despite not making the GP Series, but is first reserve.

Isn't Mikael riding with metal work in his leg? A winter of rest & metal removal may see him return to old form.

Mikael should put points on his average - but I suspect they will be largely attributed to his home form (he still knows a pretty quick way around the Green). But therein lies one of our problems - consistency, and also back-up for our heatleaders away from home (yes, I know it was two home defeats that cost us this year). Whether Mikael can provide that support, I do not know, but there wouldn't be many better number fours around.

Bjerre was a disappointment that didn't help Belle Vue the lower order guys did up their numbers.
