Some nasty-sounding back-firing going on in the pits.

On reflection, most of it seems to be coming from Radio WM!

Our new lads won't last the season. Mark my words.
Other teams sign Andersson,Kildemand and Jepsen Jensen.
We sign Pontus and Sowka.

Not a good start but not unexpected either. Two new riders on assessed averages is always going to be difficult. 2009 aside we have had weak tails every year since at least 2006. Hope in time we find some form.

Nice to be back at the Green again and a great start in the entertainment stakes - we counted over ten passes during the match. However, there's certainly a few concerns. Aspregen and Sowka were both poor (Sowka was about 3 or 4 bike lengths back going into the first corner and never looked likely to score, while Aspregen was a bit more on the pace, but only scored a point through Masters (I would say harsh) exclusion in heat one.
FREDDIE - Reeled in Holder and then Miedzinski earlier on, but once Ward and Holder found the line later on, had no answer.
PONTUS - Early days I know, but very poor.
NICOLAI - Easily the pick of the Wolves riders tonight. Looked really quick all night from the gate, and always dangerous when chasing too. Deservedly in the last race, but got bullied out by Holder on the first lap.
PROCTOR - Looked slow - still a pale shadow of the rider we saw in 2009.
TAI - Started like a rocket with an excellent pass on Ward and Andersson in heat seven, but faded towards the end.
LUKASZ - Poor - gating in particular looks awful.
RICKY - Competitive. Paid nine from your number seven a good return.
Looking at the team on the evidence of tonight, I don't see where the away wins will come from, and will be vulnerable at home (although I expect us to beat most teams at Monmore). But our gating has to improve. Freddie and Tai were able to catch Holder and Ward tonight, but they won't get away with giving riders head starts on the road.

Echoes of 2011 already after 1 match!
A good opening meeting crowd with a cool but mild evening.
The track looked smooth and well prepared.
Is it a disgrace to lose to Poole in the first meeting? Maybe not, but its not a great omen.
Certainly had a fair share of passes in particular for the first match of the season.
Tai`s ride in heat 7 to pass both Poole boys was superb.
Poole - Got beaten by better Wolves in his first 2 and i wondered if he would win a heat all night - he finished off in style. 4/5
Masters - the reserve in waiting was disappointing, tho he only had to beat the Wolves weak links to score. 0.5/5
Ward - as expected looked quick and stylish. Was happy to stay safe in 3rd in the final heat 4/5
Andersson - absolutely clattered through the tapes in heat 3. However had plenty of pace and ensured he did his job in heat 14. 3.5/5
Miedzinski - Will struggle to make a 7 point average when Poole want to drop him to bring back Krappyjack. He is supposed to be a bargain on that average - will struggle to even match it (tongue in cheek comment naturally!) 1.5/5
Kling - in his rightful place in reserve and can ride Wolves very well, will struggle when he moves up so hopefully he wont be as potent in the league fixture but was the Pirates secret weapon tonight. 4/5
Kurtz - would have said he was the League`s weakest reserve before tonight, unfortunately we have taken over that role. 0.5/5
WOLVES
FREDDIE - Scrapping in his first 2 heats and a great pass of Holder in heat 1. However then had to play 2nd fiddle to the Poole duo. 3.5/5
PONTUS - He scored a point on his debut however he struggled to be on the pace all night. Never really looked like beating a Pirate. Certainly had more about him in heat 10 as he chased Andersson and kept him honest. A tough opener, but we can only hope things will get better. 0/5
NICOLAI - A good night and nice to see him in heat 15, he deserved it. It was Nic who chased Holder in the final heat, only for Holder to close that door and then his chase was over. Superb gate in heat 5 and his speed made Holder look ordinary. 4/5 MOTM
TY - Decent back up in the number 4 position tho his failure to hold out Kling in heat 9 proved costly. Time will tell if he is back on track to turning his career around but we need him too. 2.5/5
TAI - Opened with 2 explosive heats but had to play 2nd fiddle to Holder twice. Still an encouraging display. 3.5/5
LUKASZ - was well off the pace and dreadful out the gate. I wish i had something more positive to say about him. Burmeister would have probably lapped him. 0/5
RICKY - full of effort and scored in each heat, decent night and back up. Unfortunately he is soon going to be back in the main team when the new averages come out. 3.5/5
OK, disappointment over, lets all hope that its first night nerves and we can get the shield and Midland League out the way and the boys have experience to build on.

Why do we continue to ride Wells at 7 giving him the outside gates in heat 2 making it very hard for him to make the start against riders on the inside of him he would surely beat if he could get in front around the pole line early in the meeting. Giving the precious inside gate to Sowka (re Burmeister 2011) is a complete waste at the moment because he plainly can not start on any gate. Then as Poole did last night if you want to give your best reserve(Wells) heat 8 just change them around to suit. I think its called creative management
