Guess this Pontus dude might be getting the hang of it!!! Remember he's a 4 pointer coming in at #2, not 6 or 7. Excellent showing tonight.

Paid seven wearing the No. 2 race jacket is highly commendable... Well done, Pontus!

A mixed bag tonight really at Perry Barr. Good match again, and I think the scoreline reflects the match quite well. FREDDIE -Not quite at his 2009/2010 best, but looks more like the Freddie we've got used to seeing over the last three seasons. Good to see him looking out for Pontus. PONTUS - I'm delighted for Pontus tonight. Adjusted to an alient track very well and was gating and riding some good hard first corners. NICOLAI - Started like an absolute rocket, but faded in his last two rides (I think he thought it was his team mate when he was passed in heats 10 and 12. Consistency still the big thing with Nic though, but have to perservere as he's got the talent. TY - Absolutely diabolical on a track he knows better than any of our other riders. Spent all night fighting the bike and seemed a sitting duck in all of his rides. To get beaten by Chris Mills, who goes round in a time of 63.5 seconds in unacceptable - i didn't know whether to laugh or cry when the time was read out! ;D TAI - After his first ride fall (I think the right decision) was unstoppable - easily the fastest man on the track and never looked like being beaten once he'd got in front. LUKASZ - Again more positive. Gates well in heat two and, although didn't score in his later races, was more on the face. THOMAS - Very lively! Always battled hard, and worked the bike well. Proctor is a huge concern for me though, as he just seems to fight the bike too much (a bit like Graham Jones used to. As I said on Monday, he's a pale shadow of what we saw a couple of years ago.

Whilst Brum always had the upper hand and were never seriously threatened we looked much more competitive with encouraging signs from the newbies.
A decent sized crowd took advantage of the voucher off and it was funny seeing fans going up and down the car park trying to off load all there extra vouchers!
Heat 1 looked promising with Pontus leading from the 2nd bend, typical that Bjarne won the re run.
Heat 2 sowka was really motoring and threatened Auty for 2 laps.
Heat 4. Thought Tai was unlucky and looked to me like he got caught and went down.
Nicolai and Ty look a very uneasy partnership. Mistakes made on Monday and again last night. Suprised to see Ty only got a point as he was in points scoring positions through-out the meeting.
Was expecting a massacre but turned out that Brum arent quite all that yet. But i still feel they will be one of the top 4 teams this season. As far as opening meetings go they must be happy with the result.
BRUM.
Bjarne - Always likely to win heats with pressure but went missing in heat 13. 3.5/5
Smolinski - Made a steady and solid contribution . Featured in 2 important maximums that nullified any advantages we had gained. 3.5/5
King - More like the Danny of last season. After the Ben Fund i thought this could be a break thru year. Im less convinced on last nights showing. 2/5
Barker - As always scraps hard for points. Showed great maturity in guiding a slow Mills to a 5-1 in heat 14. Very mature ride. Just the sort of commitment team GB needs. 3.5/5
Ulamek - started powerfully but but was less concerned when he was outgated. I thought he might be a weak link for Brum, but this was a solid debut. 4/5
Mills - Really not EL standard however shows what can be done when you have a race partner that protects your position. More than did his job 1.5/5
Auty - Brum have a winner this season. Showed that the pre season open meeting form is no fluke. Looking like a big year for Brum and Scunthorpe and josh. 5/5
WOLVES
1. FRED - looked pretty quick and was only beaten by Bjarne (once) and Ulamek (once). Job well done. 4/5
PONTUS - This kids got talent! Not sure where this come from. If his engines have been looked at or advised on set up but a paid 7 scoreline is more than what we need. And it could have been more if Heat one was allowed to continue. Superb effort and pace. Well done Pontus. 3.5/5
NIC - Started well but faded badly and allowed 2 maximums against him. Definetly a meeting of 2 halves for him. 2/5
TY - was in the thick of action in a couple of points and didnt hold positions again. When the newbies came to the table he went missing. 0.5/5
TAI - class act tonight was well ahead in all his heats. Stand out rider of the night. 5/5 MOTM
LUKASZ - Rode a superb battling race in heat 2. Granted he didnt score again however he was definetly more on the pace and wasnt that far off the others. 1/5
THOMAS - Probably not quite ready for the EL yet, however will have a go and certainly took up the challenge of splitting the Brummies in heat 14. Looked a liitle off the pace initially. 1/5
