The contribution of Chris Harris needs highlighting: perhaps this gives a clue to the change in the offing. Hansen seems to me to be a rider pining for the Pl whereas Heffers wants a team place. I think you're right, my rumour mill tells me that we're replacing NKI with Keith Harris, and Hansen with Orville The Duck.

Just a suggestion. Would it be possible to put the comments on each heat beneath each race result on the 'scores' thread instead of the 'discussion' thread? It would make the 'scores' thread into a full-blown and very readable match report. [Preparing for the "some people are never satisfied" backlash ]

Perfect night for speedway and the right result at least!!!!!
Corking weather and some decent racing with controversy all in the mix (well the pantomine dane was in town!!!)
We started with intent and at least maintained and built - WELL DONE LADS!!!!!
Wolves -
Freddie - surprisingly seen off by King in the 13th when he looked very quick all night. The track way to slick inside by then and King on the fast line by then. 4.5/5
Ales - always starts well and seems to go backwards as the meeting wears on. 2/5
Harris - THANKS BOMBER!!!!! was quick and taking no prisoners. Superb ride in heat 5 and REAL tough!!! Our guests have done the team proud to be fair.4.5/5
Nic - starting to learn the track since i last saw him - riding more mid track. Unbeaten but for a last place in the 5th. MOTM 4.5/5
David - looks to be still struggling with his set up but is putting points on the board 3/5
Heffers - as pointed out - a HARD pass - think we all went into shock!!!!! remains frustrating but a good couple of rides and did what we expect of a reserve!!!! AT LAST!!!!!! 3.5/5
Kenny - had the beating of his fellow number 7 but little else to write about. 1/5
Panthers -
Andersen - madness using his rr ride so late in the meeting with nothing to go for.. the race with freddie was really funny in the 13th. When realised freddie had pulled alongside him and past him o the home straight going into the 2nd lap andersen lent on freddie so it was obvious he was going to come down. The ref called called ir right. Cheats never prosper Hans!!!!! 3.5/5
bager - woke up after his 2nd ride. 2.5/5
vissing - beat dryml that was it despite scoring in 3 of his 4 heats. 0.5/5
King - always a threat at the green. great ride in the 13th. 3.5/5
fisher - did his job with a little more. 2/5
procter - tried but ineffective. 0.5/5

Lindgren 4 out of 5
Gated with Ales in Heat 6 and entering turn 3 with Ales on the outside, and a perfect opportunity to team ride, decided to race off.. allowing King to follow him through the inside and into second. That and a heat 13 blemish to King aside, an excellent nights work for Fred.
Dryml 2.5 out of 5
As usual, an excellent Heat 1. Should have done better in Heats 8, (although he did make a pass in this one) and certainly in 10 when he trailed in behind Vissing.
Harris 5 out of 5.
Absolutely brilliant. Beat Andersen two out of three times, once having to repass him to do it. Pushed him all the way in Heat 15 also
Nicolai 4.5 out of 5.
Best home performance for Nicolai so far. Finally put together 3 cracking races in a meeting. Once he hits the front he is as quick as anyone.
David 1.5 out of 5
No improvement. He beat Proctor, Fisher and Bager for his points. Raced King 3 times, lost 3 times. Gated in Heat 4.. King passed him with ease around the outside. Was well down on Fisher when Heat 7 was stopped. Picked up another lucky point when Andersen excluded in Heat 13. Its not good enough. Whatever the problem is machinery wise, its going on for toooo long. Groans of derision from the crowd when announced for Heat 15, promptly gave up when King moved him out of the way on the 1st turn.
Christian 4 out of 5
Excellent in 3 of his rides. Absolutely awful in his second! But, a big improvement.
Kenny 1.5 out of 5
Not as bad as we have seen him at times this season, and never totally off the pace, but should be scoring more against this opposition for sure.

I know that it is practice on live updates: five different colours, sponsors, times, it looks awful to me. I don't mind if other keyboard players do this, it isn't for me. It does get hectic at times, posting details, the phone rings with the next heat. I prefer to keep the results separate for clarity's sake. What do others think?

I would never critisise the texter or updater as having done it once myself I know how stressful it is. You do it how you like and how it is easiest for you. A pint in each hand if needed lol

Please don't take what I said as any sort of adverse criticsm of the volunteers who do a professional-standard job under pressure of limited time. My original post was purely intended to be constructive. Our updates forum is able to retain the Wolfcry ethos - by the fans, for the fans. For the reader, often some distance away and unable to attend meetings, it's reassuring to know that the service is being provided exclusively by fellow Wolves fans. I'd never want it to turn into some sort of production line like the national Updates Forum, with its colours and sponsorships. Coming in late last night, I just felt it would have been even more enjoyable to read the heat results alongside the relevant commentary on the same page. In that mind, I made nothing more than a simple suggestion. Please, no-one should take it any other way.

Seriously though, having done the updates a couple of times I know what '8' is saying ,it can get hectic, what suits one to post may not suit the other. Well done to all texters and phoners and those on keyboards.

Be assured it was taken entirely as intended. I know Mr X does something similar to this, I will have a go next week.

dont forget that Kenny got in the way of Hans going into the 1st bend from the tapes which let Bomber get away. heat 12. he finished last in that heat but done just enough to let Bomber get clear. looked better than what his points say. Freddie looked quick again. Ales good to start with but same as usual after 1st 2 rides, did pass though. Klindt, great apart from 2nd ride. How still struggling a bit, didnt look as bad this week but still scored well. Heff, 2 different Heff's i think, a hard pass in 1 race against Bager, 1 really crap ride being passed and then being left for dust.Bomber, prob couldnt get a much better guest in for NKI at Monmore, looked very quick, thanks Bomber.

oh and Freddie did look back for Ales in heat 6 against King but Ales was too slow, Freddie locked up going round the bend to scrub off as much speed as he could but Ales didnt have the speed to get round them. also had a look coming out of the bend.

It would make the 'scores' thread into a full-blown and very readable match report. [Preparing for the "some people are never satisfied" backlash ] What do others think? I think it's easier to read if the comments on the match - the match report bits - are on the same page as the results. As Arkie says, you can get a good idea of exactly what happened in a few minutes that way. I do try to add the report under the heat results. I'm not convinced this is the best way to do it, it might be neater to put a third post on the topic under the heat results for any comments. I can never be bothered with the colours and all that. Too fiddly for me. What really irritates me when I do the updates is the scorechart. I find that really fiddly and awkward to keep having to edit it. Thanks for the updates and the match reports above. Always excellent reading, I appreciate it.
