Heat1 Mikael, Chris(R/R), Walasasek, Tatum(R/R) 57.9
1-5
Walasek gates but drifts wide out of the second bend. Our two nip through along the back straight and ride off for the 5-1
Heat2 Freddie, Lanham, Hurry F/EX, Adam EX unfair riding No Time
2-3, 3-8
Freddie gates, Adam cuts back under the Arena Essex pair down the back straight. Adam, Lanham and Hurry are in a line along the back striaght, in that order inside to out. Adam is possibly just in front as they reach the third bend. Hurry falls, struggling for room and Adam is excluded for unfair riding. This seems a very harsh decision. Adam seemed to keep to his line but as I was watching from the side could not be sure of this. Rich seems to have had a much better view from his posting on another thread and says Adam never moved out - hope you don't mind me quoting you Rich. The crash was certainly no fault of Adam - Hurry just ran out of room. If it had happened on the first bend, then probably there would have been a re run with all four riders. Being on the third bend, someone had to go, and it seems the referee bottled it. Hurry takes his time, but eventually gets to his feet and walks back to the pits.
In the re run Freddie gates again and as the AE pair chase, Hurry clips Lanham's back wheel as he enters the first bend of lap 2 and is flipped over the high side. Again he is on the floor again for some time, but eventually gets up.
The referee awards the race.
Heat3 Tatum, Barker, Chris, David 58.7
5-1, 8-9
Barker gates with Chris second. Tatum rides around Chris on bends 3 and 4 of the first lap for second, and eventually pulls in front of Barker. David is struggling at the back
Heat4 Loram, Lanham - in for Hurry, Sam, Adam 58.8
5-1, 13-10
The AE pair gate and are gone. Sam buzzes them both on the last lap but is not close enough. Adam well back
Heat5 Tatum, Barker, Mikael, Freddie(R/R) 58.7
5-1, 18-11
Even start between Tatum and our pair. Tatum leads for the first lap, and Mikael goes for the big blast around the first 2 bends of lap 2, Tatum drifts wide to block him and Barker nips past both of our riders. The AE pair are never troubled after that.
Heat6 Lanham (R/R), Freddie, Sam, Walasek 58.8
3-3, 21-14
Freddie moves at the gate and all 4 are called back for a re run.
Lanham gates in the re run with Walasek and Freddie in his wake. Sam is last but forces his way up to 2 nd by the 3rd bend of lap1. However he then goes for the big blast around the outside of bends 1 and 2 of lap 2 and falls back to last. Freddie gets through to 2nd and Sam is gifted 3rd when Walasek falls on his own when 3rd on bend 1 of lap4.
Heat7 Loram, Chris, David 57.7 (Three riders only)
3-3, 24-17
It is announced that there will be no rider in Blue - Lanham was programmed - is Hurry injured and they are saving Lanham's rides for later?.
Loram gates and our pair never get near. David still seems down on power.
Heat8 Hurry !!!
, Lanham (R/R), Freddie (R/R), Adam 59.5
5-1, 29-18
So why was there a blank rider in the previous heat - only the AE management will ever know!!
Hurry gates and is gone. Lanham is second but drifts wide on the second bend and Freddie slips past. Lanham is all over Freddie's back wheel and gets under Freddie on bend 4 of lap 3. Adam suffers engine failure when last and never in it.
Heat9 Tatum, Barker, Sam, Freddie 58.7
5-1, 34-19
From the gate.
Sam gets close on the last lap but never close enough to pass.
The wheel have well and truly fallen off - what will our tactical maestro Mr Adams come up with.......read on !
Heat10 Lanham (R/R - again), Walasek, Mikael (TS)for David, Chris 59.0
5-2, 39-21
So, on a track that has seen very little passing after the first two bends our team manager introduces Mikael from a 15 metre handicap the Wolves fans there just cannot believe it.
Chris gates but is taken wide by Lanham and Walasek slips through. Chris lets Mikael through on bend 2 of lap 2, but Mikael is at least the 15 metre handicap behind the AE pair at the finish. Has the bonus gone?
Heat11 Loram, Mikael, David(R/R), Hurry - Lanham Ex 2 minutes 58.6
3-3, 42-24
A long delay while the AE management are arguing on the phone with the referee after Lanham's exclusion, but we are not told what the argument is over.
Our pair gate in the re run and lead. David lifts on bend 3 of lap 1 and lets Loram through. He chases Mikale and when Mikael drifts wide on bend 2 of lap 3, Loram is through.
Best race of the night by far to date.
Heat12 Freddie(TR), Chris, Tatum, Hurry 59.6
1-8, 43-22
At last something to cheer.
Chris and Freddie gate and Hurry has engine failure on the first bend. Tatum doesn't seem interested when he is at the back and all but pulls up after 2 and a half laps, just tootling around for the point. Chris lets Freddie through at the end of lap 3.
Heat13 Mikael, Loram, Sam, Walasek 57.9
2-4, 45-36
At last our lot seem to have woken up!
Walasek gates but goes from 1st to last around the first two bends! Mikael leads and looks much faster. Sam and Loram exchange places twice on the 3rd lap but Loram eventually wins out. Much better ride from Sam though. Level on aggregate again.
Heat14 Barker, David (TR), Lanham, Freddie. 58.9
4-4, 49-40
Freddie rears at the tart and is out of it. Barker makes the big swoop around the first two bends to lead down the back straight. Lanham pushes David hard but David manages to keep him at bay to give us a chance of hanging on to the bonus.
Heat 15 Mikael(Green), Barker(Red), Chris(Y/B), Loram(Blue) 57.9
2-4, 51-44
AE win the toss and take 1+3.
Barker and Mikael are even from the gate and Barker tries to take Mike wide for Loram to come through. However, Mikael somehow manages to cut back under Barker and passes him down the back straight to lead. Meanwhile Loram is too busy watching Barker and Mike, and while he waits for the gap, Chris nips underneath him for third place out of the 2nd bend. Mikael is again much faster and cannot be caught. Chris rides a great race to keep Loram at the back.
WEATHER***** fine, sunny and warm
TRACK CONDITIONS*** well prepared and evenly watered. Plenty of dirt there, but very little passing due to tricky shape.
ATTENDANCE*** Quite a decent turnout.
WOLVES PERFORMANCE *** We looked dead and buried at 39-21 but showed great spirit to rescue the bonus point.
ENTERTAINMENT VALUE** Very little passing and only worth 2 stars despite the excitement later on. Would have been much more exciting for the home fans who must have considered their team to be underdogs.
WOLVES MAN OF THE MATCH- Very close decision. After heat 10 you would have said no one deserved it!! Miakel rode well in the latter stages to inspire the team. However my man of the match is CHRIS NEATH who also rode well later on and his performance was above what we would have expected from him on his current form.
RIDERS PERFORMANCES:
MIKAEL *** His last 2 rides definitely rescued his stars rating
CHRIS*** Much better performance than of late and sharp at the gate. Just shaved the Man of the Match award.
DAVID ** Looked very slow all night. A better last ride rescue him from a One Star night.
SAM** Another whose last ride saved him from a one star show.
FREDDIE** Seemed to be affected by the referee's warning for moving at the start in heat 6. Didn't look as sharp as in recent matches.
ADAM* - Was very unlucky to be excluded in heat 2. However he was awful after that. He had two bikes in the pits with him and I don't know if he tried both, but he was clearly down on power.
REFEREE - Phil Griffin - made a very bad decision in heat 2. However not a bad performance after that - quite rightly brought Freddie back for moving in heat 6.
