EASTBOURNE 'SOUTH COAST VEHICLE HIRE' EAGLES vs
PARRYS INTERNATIONAL WOLVES
Elite League 'A'
Saturday 23rd April 2005
Having travelled to the south coast a little earlier,it felt like Abi and myself had set off in advance of a big cup final. The weather was beautiful Thursday and Friday and the talk was of those fabulous nights back in September 2002 when an aggregate score of 93-87 had brought the trophy back home to the Midlands.However-this was 2005,not as confident as then although form appeared to be returning to our boys.On the otherhand, our news of Eastbourne's excellent victory away to Ipswich feared our worst thoughts,a hammering was on the cards with non other than public enemy No1 at the helm....NP!!!!!
A 15 point deficit was the prediction as we set off from our exclusive 'digs' 20 miles away in Bexhill, but the night would not be spoiled,we were there to chear on the boys whatever.......and thats exactly what we did, well Abi did especially..........The result of the night was as follows:
Eastbourne SCV Eagles 45
1.David Norris 3 3 3 2' 2' =13+2
5.Andrew Moore 0 1 2 0 = 3
4.Dean Barker 0 1'1 1' = 3+2
3.Adam Shields 2 2 0 0 = 4
2.Nicki Pedersen 3 3 2 3 3 =14
9.Ulrich Ostergaard 0 0 0 = 0
6.Davey Watt 1 1 1'2 3 = 8+1
Parry's International Wolves 45
1.Mikael Max 2 3 3 1 0 =9
5.Ronnie Correy 1' 0 3 1 =5+1
4.Frerik Lindgren 3 2 2 3 1 =11
3.Steve Johnston 1 1'1'1' =4+3
2.David Howe 2 0 2' 0 =4+1
7.Magnus Karlsson 3 2 3 0 2 =10
6.Krzysztof Pecyna 2'0 0 =2+1
Heat 1
Norris,Max,Correy,Moore 55.9 3-3 (3-3)
Norris in his 501st appearance for the Eagles gated professionally from G2,Mikael on kid brothers bike chased for 2 laps but no impression,Ronnie comfortable 3rd over Moore.
Heat 2
Karlsson,Pecyna,Watt,Ostergaard 57.6 1-5 (4-8)
Great start to night for the reserves, wonderful victory over the in-form Watt, looked good from gate to flag
Heat 3
Lindgren,Shields,Johnston,Barker (fell,re-mount) 57.1 2-4 (6-12)
Great move from Freddie over Shields, who drifted, only slightly off the line on lap 3,looke very quick and competative,Barker bailed out early and re-mounted,but too far behind although Jonno's bike seamed to lose power quickly
Heat 4
Pedersen,Howe,Watt,Pecyna 56.7 4-2 (10-14)
From the gate rode the boards.....was gone.Pecyna held Watt for 2 laps before perhaps a little track knowledge let him down,Watt no mug though.Comfortable place for David
Heat 5
Max,Shields,Barker,Correy 57.4 3-3 (13-17)
Top gate from Mikey on the outside, got over everybody early and was away.
Heat 6
Norris,Karlsson,Moore,Howe 57.2 4-2 (17-19)
Again comfortable win for the Flopster good ride from Maggie, held off a spirited ride from Moore who earlier had capitalised on a mistake by David who had reared on Turn 2 losing the line.
Heat 7
Pedersen,Lindgren,Johnston,Ostergaard 57.0 3-3 (20-22)
Good ride by Freddie who pushed Pedersen for 2 1/2 laps,Jonno recovered to retake Ostergaard having earlier been bulked on the 2nd bend of lap 1
Heat 8
Correy,Moore,Watt,Pecyna 57.7 3-3 (23-25)
This IS Ronnie's race and a vintage ride brought him the deserved 3 points from a good start out of trap 4
INTERVAL
Heat 9 re-start
Karlsson,Howe,Barker,Shields 58.2 1-5 (24-30)
What a fantastic race from The Parry's Int boys. After the first start, David too a nasty tumble, staying down for a few mins.A few repairs were made to the bike and a little chat from PA was observed in the pits.It certainly did the trick,Maggie flew out of Trap 4 followed by David, who perfectly protected Mags for 4 laps. This I believe was David's best ride of the season, showed great character to bounce back from a fall and showed great team-riding.
Heat 10
Norris,Lindgren,Johnston,Moore 57.6 3-3 (27-33)
Floppy pushed all the way by Fred, who looks to be flying tonight, good captain's role by Jonno, settles in to make sure of a point for third.
Heat 11
Max,Pedersen,Correy,Ostergaard 57.3 2-4 (29-37)
Yes Yes Yes.....great win by Mikey over Pedersen,Pedersen was very quick but Mikey gave him nothing
Heat 12
Lindgren,Watt,Barker,Karlsson 57.9 3-3 (32-40)
The points were almost in bank,as Freddie and Maggie shot out the gate, the inform Watt passed Maggie who was later taken by Barker,Ah well atleast no tactical in 13!!!!!
Heat 13
Pedersen,Norris,Max,Howe 57.7 5-1 (37-41)
Just too predictable to describe..........
Heat 14
Watt,Karlsson,Johnston,Shields 57.9 3-3 (40-44)
Pardon me but bloody bloody bloody hell. The victory was there but for the tread of a front wheel, the tiddler of a weasal.Watt takes Maggie on the line,Mags had looked great for 4 laps,Jonno taking the extra, fair play to Watt never gave up,don't know where he's finding this form
Heat 15
Pedersen,Norris,Lindgren,Max 57.4 5-1 (45-45)
Having won the toss and taking gates 1 & 3 the strong pairing rose to the occasion.Freddie gave a great chase but realistically was never going to pass these 2,then the insulting double lap of celebration by NP.The icey look CVS gave Np when receiving the bumps said it all.........
On reflection,it was an excellent meeting of Speedway. The Wolves can hold their heads up high, not once did the Eagles have the lead, and when you see their line up of Pedersen,Norris,Shields at Arlington and an in-form Davey Watt-this was a terrific performance from the boys.Abi was hoarse on the way home she desparately wanted that win for the lads.If this performance can be repeated, not only will we got the bonus in a couple of weeks, but more points to a respectable finish at the end of the season will be a much deserved reward.
5 Star Rating
Weather-*** stayed dry and reasonable pleasant
Track-***Moist/damp,rode well considering some rain in the day
Attendance**-I've seen more nuts on a Hazelnut Wirl (about 20-25 Wolves i think)
Wolves Performance-**** great allround team performance
Entertainment Value-**** again enjoyed the performance, always interesting to watch when NP is around
Man of the Match-This one's tough,it's between Mags and Freddie, but have to give it Mags just****
Referee-Dan Holt (Kent) late replacement for Chris Gay-**** kept the meeting flowing, was consistant with a couple of tape decisions which were fair,no major ones to make
Rider Rating
Mikael-***Great ride to beat Pedersen
Ronnie-***Great win in Heat 8 starting to ride Jacket 2
Fredrik-***just pipped by Maggie, looked really down in the pits after, only 19 a rider we must keep what a prospect
Jonno-***Good captain's knock, played his part in and around the pits, secured 3rd place and fought for it when needed to-top picture of him in the programme.
David-**good ride to help Mags in ht 9,but hts 13 and 15 at the moment seem a little too much for him, needs something to maintain his responsible position as second heat leader, needs plenty of support and encouragement, which we'll def give
Mags-**** Superb nights work, looks like following Big Brothers in the sport, can only get better,Well Done Maggie deserved MOM
Krzysztof-**Carried on with form-shows well from his first ride, but cannot maintain for the rest of the night. Can't fault his effort, again like David needs plenty of encouragement.
Final conclusion of the night,a win was never in my mind as we entered the stadium at 6:30pm,at 9:30pm we were leaving with a point,a point we were actually dissapointed with.We must take heart from this performance and see it as a point gained, made my beer taste nice on Saturday.Come on Me Babies!!!!!!!!
