So the final home meeting had arrived. No chance of pulling back a 30+ point defeat earlier so this was a going through the motions match and the apathy on the terraces was clear to all.
Heat 1..LINDGREN,Harris,Ulamek,CORREY..3-3 59.57
Freddie missed the start of gate 1 and was clamped to the inside by Harris( or Neath according to the stadium TV's) Freddie however rode a good tight first corner and powered past both Bees down the backstraight for a comfortable win. Ronnie pressured Ulamek all the way but found no way past.
Heat 2..Risager, PECYNA,Smolinski,KARLSSON..2-4..5-7 59.54
Risager gated and Magnus tried a wide line on turn 4 to get past but Smolinski nipped under to put the bees in control. All looked set for a 1-5 until magnus slid off on turn 2 on lap 4 with Krys doing well to avoid then Smolinski inexplicably fell on the very last bend again Krys playing dodgems to pick up 2 points. Magnus ws down for quite some time receiving treatment.
Heat3..JOHNSTON,Janniro,Kylmakorpi,Howe..3-3..8-10..59.56
Jonno gated and was never troubled as the 2 Bees rode together making sure a very uncomfortable looking David was kept at the back.
Heat4..ADAMS,Nicholls,PECYNA,Smolinski..4-2..12-12..58.57
A good gate from the Wolves pair saw them lead until Nicholls took a wide 4th turn line to pass krys,he looked as if he may round Adams as well but Leigh rode a wide home straight leaving Nicholls no room and eased to his first win of the night.
Heat5..Ulamek,JOHNSTON,Harris,Howe..2-4..14-16..58.70
A cracking heat with Ulamek and Jonno side by side for the whole race. Ulamek on the inside finally managed to sneak ahead on the last lap to take the win with harris close behind in 3rd. david was well off the pace and clearly in some distress.
Heat6..Nicholls,CORREY,LINDGREN,Risager..3-3..17-19..58.76
Freddie happy in this to follow Ronnie round to split the points after Nicholls had made the best gate to lead off the 2nd turn.
Heat7..ADAMS,Kylmakorpi,Janniro,KARLSSON..3-3..20-22..58.49
A win by the perverbial mile for the Aussie with the Swede battling with the Finn for third place with the Yank watching closely to help out the Finn for another 3-3.
Heat8..Smolinski,PECYNA,Ulamek,CORREY..2-4..22-26..59.55
A surprise result this with the 2 reserves battling for the lead with Ronnie unable to challenge Ulamek for 3rd spot.
Heat9..Nicholls,Risager,KARLSSON,JOHNSTON..1-5..23-31..58.66
Magnus replaced David who had withdrawn from the meeting due to his rib injury sustained at the Olympique. Agreat ride from Jonno-if you are a Coventry fan!!
Nicholls gated and magnus was chasing on the outside until Jonno decides on turn 4 to take magnus right out to the fence to allow Risager to come through to follow his captain. The flymo then gave up on lap 3 and the Bees lead by 8.
Heat 10..CORREY,Janniro,LINDGREN,Kylmakorpi..4-2..27-33..59.10
The pocket rocket lived up to his name with a tapes to flag victory as the other 3 had a battle between them for the minor places. All 3 swapped places almost every corner with Freddie finally getting a well earned point behind Janniro.
Heat11..ADAMS,PECYNA,Ulamek,Harris..5-1..32-34..58.95
At last something to cheer, for those who could be bothered.Adams gated (no surprise there) with Krys riding a good second turn to take second from his fellow Pole. JJ was then very impressed by the way Krys sheperded Adams home for a yabba dabba.
Heat 12.. Risager,Janniro,PECYNA,KARLSSON..1-5..33-39..59.33
The lead was back to 6 as the Wolves reserves were unable to make any inroads against the quick starting Bees duo.
Heat13..Nicholls LINDGREN,ADAMS,Harris..3-3..36-42..58.69
Nicholls made another good gate with freddie unable to challenge. Adams passed harris at the end of lap 1 then tucked for the 4th 3-3 of the evening.
Heat14..Kylmakorpi,PECYNA,JOHNSTON,Smolinski..3-3..39-45..59.60
With any dirt left now out wide kylmakorpi rode his usual wide line to take the win with the Wolves pair keeping the German at the rear.
Heat 15 Due to equipment problems(yeah right) the 1 lap dashes were cancelled to be replaced by 2 regular 4 lap races
LINDGREN,Risager,Ulamek,JOHNSTON..3-3..42-48..59.94
Pretty much the way we have come used to seeing these 2 guys in the latter end of the season with freddie winning whilst Jonno takes his Flymo round at the back.
Heat 16 ADAMS,Janniro,Nicholls,PECYNA..3-3..45-51..59.14
So the final race of the season was won by the fast gating Adams with Janniro and Nicholls not challenging at all and Krys not too far behind.
So with the interviews done mid meeting?/ although it was impossible to hear anything that was said it was time to go and leave a very sorry 2005 behind.
