From the British speedway forum... MAIN EVENT Heat 11 Phillips, Howe, Hawkins, Smith Heat 12 Stead, Kennett, Moore, Smethills (FX) A second is as a good as a first in the GP format so that's fine. I presume Phillips is Glenn Phillips? I'll have a Bud please. True. You wouldn't want the cake if I'd made it! Here's your bud. It is Glenn Philips riding. I've made a cake and mine tastes fine!

Hi beegee, glad you could join us. It's the GP knockout format tonight, so second is enough to progress.

Hi beegee, glad you could join us. It's the GP knockout format tonight, so second is enough to progress. Hi Mark I nearly forgot to look for the results tonight I hope that David is fully fit and wins tonight although he said in the programme he would be happy to qualify for the world under 21's I guess he would really like to beat Simon Stead after the last two years.

MAIN EVENT Heat 11 Phillips, Howe, Hawkins, Smith Heat 12 Stead, Kennett, Moore, Smethills (FX) Heat 13 Harris, Collins, Allott, Neath Heat 14 Ashworth, Allen, Appleton, Colvin (DNR)
Just heard from Darren... David a safe second. He was catching Glenn Phillips towards the end, Phillips looked good though. Track is really difficult, very sticky. They keep grading it, but riders are rearing, having to take strange lines etc.
David goes into heat 18 against Simon Stead (R), Ricky Ashworth (B), and Aidan Collins (Y). Looks a tough one!
Chris was very poor in his ride, couldn't handle the track. The qualifiers look better than the seeded riders... the winner will be the bravest rider tonight... Simon Stead and Chris Harris look favourites so far. More from Darren after heat 18.

does that mean that David is out? Not yet, I think he has to come in the top 8 to go to the semi-finals.

News from Darren...
David was leading heat 18 when Ricky Ashworth fell. In the rerun he was dicing with Simon Stead when he fell - his own fault. He's OK but waited for Stead by the pit gate, they squared up to each other as though there would be a fight... then they were all hugs and kisses! It was obviously a joke they'd arranged beforehand if anything vaguely controversial happened! Nice one.
David goes into an eliminator now...

Simon Stead, Aiden Collins, Olly Allen (who won his last race very well) and Chris Harris in the semis so far.
Eliminators line up is...
19. Hawkins, J.Smith, Phillips, Ashworth. (Darren reckons the last two should go through) 20. Appleton, Allot, David, Kennett. (Darren favours David and Appleton)
Cheers, Mark.
