Iwas in Brussels last week! Is there a better pub than a la morte subite? Heat 14 the race of the night! Skornicki, Grieves,Lanham,Nermark 46-38 Grieves was superb.

Heat 15 Nicholls, Max, P.Karlsson,Nermark 49-41
It looked like a 5-1 for the Witches after another great start from Daniel but it seemed like Nicholls didn't seem very keen on team riding and pressure from Mikael and PK saw us get the 3 points to get the bonus point.
On this showing the Daniel or Adam conundrum was settled very firmly in Daniel's favour. We were inconsistent in too many areas and James Grieves won this match for us. And I must add the comment that this was yet another exciting and entertaining meeting. Yet again we had the Kelvin Tatum view that this is a difficult and tricky circuit. (Preben Eriksen had few problems....ouch) Compared to the tracks we have seen on Tv so far, and the ploughed field at Oxford, Why is the best racing always at Monmore Green?

Thanks: You must have posted same time as me. Good to see Wolves win, but we must beat Teams like Ipswich much easier than we did.

Great beer and cakes in Brussels but that fountain of the little boy is somewhat disappointing.
Man of the match tonight - although all seven played their parts, my vote goes to the man who took some crucial points from allegedly better (higher profile) riders. Step forward James Grieves.

Ipswich were up for this, they probably saw this as one of the few meetings where they could get something. Our weakness is/was no real tird heatleader who is going to get 8-10 at home. Adam looked the part in two heats, and pretty awful in two others. Sam, after a poor first outing, looked to be maintaining his recent improvement. His second ride was vintage and showed he still wants to do it, his later ride when pushing james into the fence on th first turn simply would not have happened five years ago.

We won didn't we? I'm not sure about this three heat leader notion. That was fine when there was a 50 point limit for each team and there were more genuine heat leaders around. Nowadays it's not really feasible to have three 9 point plus men at 1, 3 and 5. There aren't that many real heat leaders around. We have two genuine world class riders in Mikael and Peter, three riders who are capable of providing sufficient back up and a set of reserves who should at least match their opposite numbers. If we had a third heat leader in the traditional sense then we would be far weaker lower down the team, and probably no better off overall.
Sure, Sam did James no favours in that race, but I think praise is due for Sam securing the win, which is what we needed above all. I wouldn't criticise Sam for his actions on the first turn - if he'd spurned the opportunity to team ride later in the race that would be different.
