Pieman gets it and he's only 19. You should be fine as long as he doesn't start singing The Rubettes - Sugar Baby Love Music & Lyrics: Bickertown - Waddington, 1974 Sugar baby love, sugar baby love I didn't mean to make you blue Sugar baby love, sugar baby love I didn't mean to hurt you. All lovers make, make the same mistakes Yes they do Yes, all lovers make, make the same mistakes As me and you. <instrumental> Sugar baby love, sugar baby love I didn't mean to make you blue Sugar baby love, sugar baby love I didn't mean to hurt you. ---speaking--- People take my advice If you love someone Don't think twice. Love you baby love, sugar baby love Love her anyway, love her everyday.

John Richardson, Alan Williams & Pete Arnesen were asked to form the Rubettes. Some more musicians were needed to complete the line up so John contacted musician friends Mick Clarke, Bill Hurd & Tony Thorpe who were delighted with the opportunity and rightly so for it was but a few months later that the Rubettes achieved the coveted No.1 spot in the U.K. charts in May 1974 with their first single ‘Sugar Baby Love’

Over to you MM2 for the interesting facts or photos..... The Countess Godiva, who was a great lover of God's mother, longing to free the town of Coventry from the oppression of a heavy toll, often with urgent prayers besought her husband that, from regard to Jesus Christ and his mother, he would free the town from that service and from all other heavy burdens; and when the Earl sharply rebuked her for foolishly asking what was so much to his damage, and always forbade her evermore to speak to him on the subject; and while she, on the other hand, with a woman's pertinacity, never ceased to exasperate her husband on that matter, he at last made her this answer: "Mount your horse and ride naked, before all the people, through the market of this town from one end to the other, and on your return you shall have your request." On which Godiva replied, "But will you give me permission if I am willing to do it?" "I will," said he. Whereupon the Countess, beloved of God, loosed her hair and let down her tresses, which covered the whole of her body like a veil, and then, mounting her horse and attended by two knights, she rode through the marketplace without being seen, except her fair legs, and having completed the journey, she returned with gladness to her astonished husband and obtained of him what she had asked, for Earl Leofric freed the town of Coventry and its inhabitants from the aforesaid service, and confirmed what he had done by a charter.

I've lost track of the match while I've followed the gripping story of the Rubettes... A lot has happened to The Rubettes these last few years, some good, some not so good and a lot of questions are being asked by a lot of very confused people so it’s time to set the record straight. Probably by now most of you are aware that there exists more than one form of Rubettes band which is the result of a dispute between Alan and a certain ex member of the Rubettes who shall remain nameless. The U.K. legal system has ruled that the Rubettes as we know them shall no longer exist but must continue in other forms and therefore the band with Alan Williams in it must be called The Rubettes featuring Alan Williams. Pretty straight forward really. At least you'll know what you are getting so make sure you check the billing as to which band is appearing to avoid disappointment. We have all come to learn that there is always some good that comes out of bad and the good that has come out of the Rubettes recent problems is that John Richardson has rejoined with Alan and Mick returning to his rightful place on drums and that former Rubettes fan club member Mark Haley has joined them on guitar and keyboards. John and Alan started the Rubettes way back in 1974 and although John left the band in 1983 since returning in 2000 he has added a whole new dimension to their sound as well as making it ‘fun’ again. Something, according to Alan, that had been missing for a long time and we all thank him for that. For 2005 we will try to keep you informed on what is happening and what is new as often as we can. In the meantime if you see the Rubettes advertised for a show that isn’t included on the gig page check it out to see that it really is The Rubettes featuring Alan Williams before you book unless of course you are happy to see and hear ‘Others’. So that clears that up then.

Last Friday night I let down my tresses and mounted a horse. The case is due in court next wednesday.
