My predictions so far ....
1 Poole A title chasing team has to have a few riders that can raise their starting averages by a considerable amount and Poole have at least three that can do that.
Bjarne Pedersen 9.05 this year starts as the fifth highest averaging rider and this year he no longer has to follow home Crumpy and is easily capable of moving up to a 10 point rider.
Chris Holder 5.05 will possibly be the biggest improver in the league this year and it would be no suprise to see him finish the season with an average around 7.50 or even higher. Likely to start in the #5 race jacket as the third heat leader but wont finish too far behind Watt.
Karol Zabik 5.00 is a real talent and if its true he has spent £20,000 on his British equipment then he wont go missing and looks set to challenge for a heat 15 nomination in most matches. As he is likely to be partnering Davey Watt, bonus points may make his average appear around six, but with bonus points I see no reason he can average close to eight a match.
Davey Watt 8.06 is the only second heat leader with an average over eight a match and would be the top rider in three teams. If he can maintain his form from last season, he will be part of a brilliant top four that should be capable of at least 35 points a match.
Adam Skornicki 4.89 had a poor 2007 season but if he can get back to anything like the form we know he can, then he will be a great back up and add vital points.
Zibi Suchecki 3.69 is another of the fast gating poles who started the 2007 season well and moved into the main body of the Ipswich team and looked to be a useful second string. He was then hit by injuries and when he eventually returned, he struggled and his 5+ average slipped to the 3.69 he starts 2008 with. Now fully fit he could again challenge for a main body position in the strongest team in the league ...... in my opinion.
Freddie Eriksson 3.06 has done well in previous seasons but on his last visit to these shores he looked like a novice and his average was halved before returning home. May not be the 5 to 6 point rider again, but definatley a decent three point reserve rider.
2 Coventry
3 Eastbourne
4 Ipswich
5 Wolves
6 Lakeside
7 Belle Vue
8 Swindon
1 Leigh Adams 10.35 2 Mads Korneliussen 5.18 3 Troy Batchelor 5.79 4 James Wright 4.73 5 Travis McGowan 5.34 6 Seb Alden 3.29 7 Theo Pjiper 3.70
In Leigh Adams 10.35 they have a class rider as we all know, but it looks like he will be a onew man show at some tracks as there is little to back him up.
Troy Batchelor 5.79 did a great job at Poole last season, but he started at reserve and that got him alot of points. He still scored well after getting into the main body of the team, but he is not a second heat leader yet and has alot of pressure on him to score.
Travis McGowan 5.34 is a good racer and adds points as a back up, but he will be starting at #5 which is really a heat leaders position and as much as you like his all action style, he is no heat leader.
Mads Korneliussen 5.18 started last season in great form, but he is inconsistant and his scores away weren't great. Now he is a second string, he will be needed to score regular points which is ok at Blunsdon, but unlikely elsewhere.
James Wright 4.73 has spent two seasons doubling up for Belle Vue and many of his matches were at Kirky Lane just as many of his points were scored. Moving up as a reserve would be ok, but as a second string its a big move for him this year.
Theo Pjiper 3.70 gives the Elite League another go after a bad first attempt in 2007 at Wolves where he struggled badly once out of the reserves berth and hardly scored in the main body. Difficult to see him improve on last years performances with EWolves.
Seb Alden 3.29 was the Swedish hot shot a few years ago and looked like he was the next Lindback or Lindgren. Things didn't work out over here and his Swedish form also dipped. Now he is back for another go and like Pjiper, it will be a suprise to see him improve too much on previous seasons.
9 Peterborough
1 Hans Andersen 9.91 2 Sam Simota 4.44 3 Kenneth Bjerre 7.89 4 Morten Risager 4.95 5 Daniel King 5.45 6 Claus Vissing 3.00 7 Henrik Moller 3.00
Yes they have a brilliant top two in Hans Andersen 9.91 and Kenneth Bjerre 7.89, who should be a secured 22 points a match at least, but that leaves another 23 points to secure a draw and thats where they look to be short.
Daniel King 5.45 really came good last year, but that was at reserve and as a second string at the most, now he starts as the third heat leader and having to partner Vissing or Moller in most heats will be a weak link to the team, even at the East of England Showground.
Morten Risager 4.95 has at times looked to be a great find, but then he can look like a second half rider next time out. He is still very young but can he be relied upon to score points as a number four rider ?
Sam Simota 4.44 is to me a reserve at best and most of his average was obtained from the reserve berth, but now starts in the main body of the team and is another that I cant see getting the points needed to back up the top two.
Claus Vissing 3.00 is a trier and showed up well at Stoke last season, but even in the Premier League he couldn't average more than six, so can you expect him to score that much even in this league.
Henrik Moller 3.00 came over before and looked poor and quite frankly his scores in Europe having been brilliant and it would be a suprise to see him scoring bags of points here.
This is hard to predict who will finish where as all teams have strengths and depths so many predictions will probably go out of the window by June.
Oh well, now lets see who finishes 8th ?

Track Record = 57.06 by Ryan Sullivan Wednesday 15th March - Challenge Poole Pirates 59-33 Wolverhampton Wolves TACTICAL IN HEAT 13 - PETER KARLSSON - 0 points - LINDGREN tactical in 14 PARRYS International Wolves were out-gunned in their season-opener as they went down to a 26-point defeat at Wimborne Road in a Challenge fixture. The home side were much the sharper from the gate, particularly in the early stages, and it was not until Heat 4 that a Wolves rider beat an opponent, Billy Hamill coming home in second place. Poole took heat advantages from each of the first seven races to end any hopes of an away win, but the visitors were much more on the pace in the second half of the meeting with several riders sorting out mechanical problems. One bright spot for Wolves was the battling riding of Freddie Lindgren, who overtook Jonas Davidsson for second place in Heat 7 and then got the better of Bjarne Pedersen to become the visitors' first race winner in Heat 10. That was the first of three straight Wolves heat wins as Peter and Magnus Karlsson took the flag in the next two races, but Poole re-established control in the closing stages despite Wolves using their tactical rides with Antonio Lindback completing a four ride paid maximum in Heat 14.

HT02; 61.09 - 5-1 - 10-2 Daniel, Jonas, Hefenbrock, Lawson. Easy 5-1 for the Pirates.
HT03; 60.72 - 5-1 - 15-3 Walasek, Lindback, Lindgren, M.Karlsson. Lindgren out of gate but both Pirates get by on first lap. This is not looking good
HT04; 59.78 - 4-2 - 19-5 Kasprzak, Hamill, Daniel, Hefenbrock. Hefenbrock third until lap 3 when Daniel Davidsson passes.
HT05; 59.89 - 4-2 - 23-7 Lindback, Pecyna, Walsek, P.Karlsson. Good battle for second with KP Nuts getting the better of his polish opponent.
HT06; 60.21 - 5-1 - 28-8 Pedersen, Boyce, Hamill, Lawson. Another good race for second place with former world #3 beating former World Champion.
HT07; 60.10 - 4-2 - 32-10 Kasprzak, Lindgren, Jonas, M.Karlsson. Lindgren misses gate but pulls off a good pass on Jonas Davidsson as they enter lap 3
HT08; 61.59 - 3-3 - 35-13 Boyce, Pecyna, Hefenbrock, Daniel. Boyce easy win but Poole get a last place . . . we are back !
HT09; 59.80 - 4-2 - 39-15 Lindback, Hamill, Walasek, Lawson A hard first bend by Lindback gives him a clear run to the win.
HT10; 60.09 - 3-3 - 42-18 Lindgren, Pedersen, Boyce, M.Karlsson. Lindgren beats Pedersen in a tight finish to win by a wheel.
HT11; 60.97 - 1-5 - 43-23 P.Karlsson, Pecyna, Kasprzak, Jonas. PK wins easily while Kasprzak tries to get past the fast starting Pecyna but KP Nuts keeps the gas on and stays in second well.

HT15; 59.72 - 5-1 - 59-33 Pedersen, Kasprzak, Hamill, P.Karlsson ex 2 mins. Easy 5-1 over Hamill.

Track Record = 59.3 by Peter Karlsson and Bjarne Pedersen Thursday 16th March - Challenge Peterborough Panthers 51-42 Wolverhampton Wolves PK - Heat 11 - Tactical ride --- HAMILL - Heat 13 - Tactical Ride PARRYS International Wolves continued their Elite League preparations with a satisfactory night's work at the Showground against the powerful Panthers. The Wolves heat-leaders all stepped up the pace and won seven races between them, no mean feat against a home side also built with top-end strength in mind. Just as at Poole on Wednesday Wolves made a poor start to the meeting, going eight points down before Billy Hamill managed a fast win over Ryan Sullivan in Heat 4. Peter Karlsson was moved out of contention and conceded maximum points in Heat 5, but the evening then got better from a Wolves perspective albeit with some mechanical concerns in the lower order. Krzysztof Pecyna was especially affected by gremlins, missing out against the two-minute clock once and stopping in another race - but Peterborough had their own problems as Hans Andersen ground to a halt in Heat 6 and Jesper B Jensen failed to finish his last two rides after being unbeaten in his first three. Karlsson won his third outing for double points as Wolves clawed back into contention, and brother Magnus once again won Heat 12, but Hamill was left at the back in his tactical ride as the Panthers secured victory. Fredrik Lindgren was arguably the rider of the night on either side, the young Swede winning three consecutive races after being overtaken by Jensen in Heat 3.

HT01; 65.0 - 4-2 - 4-2 Andersen, PK, Bajerski, Lawson. Pecyna 2mins. Bajerski ef on last bend but still coasts home to third.
HT02; 65.9 - 5-1 - 9-3 Ostrich, Hall, Hefenbrock, Lawson. Easy 5-1 ahead of slow looking Wolves pair.
HT03; 65.1 - 4-2 - 13-5 Jensen, Lindgren, Iversen, Karlsson. Jensen passes Lindgren on final bend to snatch the win. Denmark 4 - Sweden 2
HT04; 64.5 - 3-3 - 16-8 Hamill, Sullivan, Ostrich, Hefenbrock. Hamill wins in a very quick time.
HT05; 65.2 - 5-1 - 21-9 Iversen, Jensen, PK, Pecyna 2 mins. Pecyna having problems keeping bike going while PK just struggling
HT06; 64.9 - 2-4 - 23-13 Hamill, Bajerski, Lawson, Andersen Wolves gain a much needed heat win . . . ok Andersen had engine failure

HT09; 64.3 - 4-2 - 34-20 Jensen, Hamill, Iversen, Lawson. Hamill leads until lap three when Jesper B passes to stay unbeaten
HT10; 65.2 - 3-3 - 37-23 Lindgren, Andersen, Bajerski, Karlsson. Wolves look to have gated in a 5-1 position but Andersen moves Karlsson out wide and this causes him to go to back.
HT11; 65.0 - 3-6* - 40-29 PK, Sullivan, Hall, Pecyna ef. Peter Karlsson in as tactical and wins while Pecyna stops.
HT12; 66.4 - 2-4 - 42-33 Karlsson, Ostrich, Lawson, Jensen ef. Karlsson wins heat 12 again while Jesper B stops in second place.
HT13; 4-2 - 46-35 Andersen, PK, Sullivan, Hamill Sullivan impedes Hamill and keeps him at the back.

HT15; 65.0 - 2-4 - 51-42 PK, Andersen, Lindgren, Jensen ef. Jensen stops before first bend.
WOLVES 43 POOLE 52 PARRYS International Wolves made a losing start to their home campaign as Poole gave a highly impressive, solid performance to complete an early-season double over the Monmore men. Skipper Peter Karlsson led from the front, and he and Billy Hamill both provided some thrilling action - but support was lacking against a more all-round display from the Pirates. Fredrik Lindgren's night got off to a bad start as he lost the lead in Heat 3 when he spun on turn two, giving the Pirates a 5-1 - and the Swede was on the wrong end of another maximum two heats later as the visitors raced into a ten point lead. Karlsson's only defeat of the night came at the hands of Krzysztof Kasprzak when the Wolves skipper was taking his tactical ride, and although Hamill did win Heat 11 for double points the damage had already been done. Karlsson took control in the latter stages of the meeting, including a double pass on Greg Walasek and Antonio Lindback in Heat 10, but apart from Hamill there was simply insufficient support. The American had earlier completed a marvellous manoevre around the same Pirates duo, winning Heat 7 by almost scraping the fence to make it past Lindback. Bjarne Pedersen's second place in Heat 13 behind Karlsson made the meeting safe for the visitors, and Wolves will be looking for better consistency in their Elite League opener at Swindon on Thursday.

SWINDON 52 WOLVES 42 - ELITE LEAGUE - #1 A POOR start once again cost Wolves as they went down to a ten-point defeat in Wiltshire in their opening Elite League fixture - but a late rally has given them hope of the bonus point when they face Swindon at home next Monday. Just as in their earlier Challenge matches, Wolves could not get going in the early stages and were using the tactical ride facility as early as Heat 5 after dropping twelve points behind. The move failed to pay dividends with skipper Peter Karlsson being beaten by Sebastian Ulamek, and Billy Hamill was then on the wrong end of a 5-1 for the second time in his first two races. Fredrik Lindgren and Magnus Karlsson raised Wolves' hopes of a comeback with a 5-1 in Heat 7 but the Robins hit straight back in the next race, and gradually built an 18-point advantage. Peter Karlsson inflicted the first defeat of the night on Leigh Adams in Heat 13, and then a stroke of fortune went Wolves' way as clear leader Adrian Miedzinski fell in Heat 14 when Lindgren, on a tactical ride, was marooned in third place behind the Swindon duo. Miedzinski's exclusion turned a 5-1 to Swindon into a 5-3 to Wolves, and there was a further bonus in the shape of a tremendous last-heat maximum from Lindgren and Peter Karlsson over Adams and Lee Richardson.

WOLVES 54 OXFORD 40 KO Cup - 2nd Leg THE Parrys International Wolves are safely into the quarter-finals of the Knockout Cup after comfortably overcoming Oxford at Monmore Green. Wolves had done most of their hard work at Cowley last Wednesday to bring a four point advantage into the second leg, and they gradually extended it throughout Monday night's meeting for a 101-83 aggregate win. The visitors battled hard enough but their lack of firepower was clear for all to see as the Cheetahs managed just four heat winners all evening - and three of those came from soon-to-depart World Champion Tony Rickardsson, who marked his last race at the Black Country venue by throwing his goggles to the crowd after taking the chequered flag in Heat 15. Rickardsson had earlier been upstaged by a fired-up Freddie Lindgren in Heat 9, which was one of the best races of the night as the young Swede beat his more experienced countryman by inches on the line. Lindrgen was finally beaten twice in the closing stages, whilst Billy Hamill was also good value and earnt the approval of the home fans by overtaking David Howe in the closing stages of Heat 13 after Rickardsson had gone from fourth to second earlier in the race. Ronnie Correy finished off his first appearance of the season in Wolves colours with a good 5-1 in Heat 10 alongside skipper Peter Karlsson, whilst Ben Wilson picked up a paid win on his home debut and Christian Hefenbrock collected two highly encouraging race wins.

EASTBOURNE 46 WOLVES 44 Saturday 8th April - Elite League A BILLY Hamill gave his best performance so far in a Wolverhampton race-jacket but was just unable to spearhead an away win at Arlington on Saturday. The American ace twice got the better of ex-Wolves star Nicki Pedersen during the closing stages of a typically close-fought meeting between the two rivals, but the Dane's second place in Heat 15 proved crucial. Pedersen and Wolves skipper Peter Karlsson were the dominant forces in the early part of the match with Karlsson setting the tone by surging past David Norris in the first race. Neither side could open up anything more than a two-point lead but the Eagles suffered a blow when Brent Werner crashed heavily in Heat 7 and was taken to hospital with a collarbone injury. Wolves turned the screw with a 5-1 in Heat 8 after Andrew Moore had fallen, but the home side hit back immediately with maximum points of their own in the next race. Two shared heats followed before Ronnie Correy managed to split Dean Barker and Lewis Bridger in Heat 12 as the Eagles appeared set for maximum points. Even so, the home side were four points clear and the teams then traded 4-2s in the next two races which left Eastbourne with just the margin they needed to clinch victory in the last heat despite Hamill's heroics. WOLVES 48 PETERBOROUGH 42 Monday, April 10, 2006 PETER Karlsson played the perfect captain's role to inspire Wolverhampton to a 48-42 Elite League win over Peterborough. Karlsson, who spent last season on loan with the Panthers, dropped just a point to his former club as he helped the Monmore men to their first league points of the season. He received superb support from the spectacular Californian Billy Hamill who displayed the type of form which helped him to his world individual title a decade ago. And rookie reserve Christian Hefenbrock was excellent in defeating Grand Prix star Niels Kristian Iversen for a massive win on Heat 14 which helped keep the match in Wolverhampton's favour. Track conditions were superb and there were several breathtaking moves to keep the crowd entertained. In Heat 11 Hans Andersen went wide in the first turn but Hamill locked up on the inside and passed him superbly. It was the form Hamill showed a decade ago when he won his only world title. Andersen gained revenge two races later with a spectacular move of his own to keep Peter Karlsson at arm's length with Hamill also closing in. And in the all-important Heat 15, when Panthers needed a maximum 5-1 to share the spoils, Peter Karlsson got some drive in the early stages to outpace Andersen with Hamill working overtime to edge out Jesper B Jensen. WOLVERHAMPTON: Peter Karlsson 14, Billy Hamill 11+1, Christian Hefenbrock 10+1, Freddie Lindgren 8, Ronnie Correy 2+1, Magnus Karlsson 2, Ben Wilson 1. PETERBOROUGH: Hans Andersen 12, Jesper B Jensen 11+1, Niels Kristian Iversen 6+2, Ryan Sullivan 6, Ulrich Ostergaard 5+2, Richard Hall 2, Tomasz Bajerski R/R.

BELLE VUE 54 WOLVES 39 FREDRIK Lindgren ended Jason Crump's perfect start to the 2006 Elite League season - but by the time the Australian had been beaten, Belle Vue had already collected a comfortable win on Good Friday morning. Crump, with 20 race wins out of 20 in his previous four matches for the Aces, finished third behind Simon Stead and Lindgren in the last race, Lindgren having previously reduced an 18-point deficit with a tactical ride win for six points in Heat 14. There was no stopping former Wolves squad rider Stead, however, who romped to a 15-point maximum - his second full house in consecutive meetings - and Joe Screen was also unbeaten as Wolves were unable to provide a heat winner until that penultimate race. Belle Vue lost reserve Phil Morris with a foot injury after the end of Heat 2, Morris tangling with Christian Hefenbrock after winning the race, and that led to a busy meeting for his reserve partner Tom P Madsen. Hefenbrock also took extra rides as he battled hard on his first visit to Kirkmanshulme Lane, the German youngster replacing Magnus Karlsson and debutant Lee Smethills in their final programmed rides, and generally having the better of Madsen. Even with Kenneth Bjerre having a below-par meeting after a first-ride engine failure, the Aces gradually extended their lead with a sequence of 4-2s in the first half of the meeting, and picked up their first - and only - 5-1 in Heat 9 from Stead and James Wright, ironically when Billy Hamill was taking a tactical ride. Lindgren had more success with the black-and-white helmet colour, but by that stage Wolves were in damage limitation mode, and at least the Swede gave them something to smile about in the last race even with Stead racing clear.

COVENTRY 53 WOLVES 40 WOLVERHAMPTON ended their Good Friday programme winless and will face a 13-point chase for the bonus point against Coventry at Monmore Green on Easter Monday. Wolves never fully recovered from conceding two 5-1s in the first four races, although they did threaten a comeback on a couple of occasions during the evening meeting. They were 16-8 down when home skipper Scott Nicholls combined with shock high-scorer Olly Allen over Billy Hamill in Heat 4, although Hamill did then win his next two outings on his former home track. The second such win was as a tactical ride and when Rory Schlein's inside challenge saw the Australian hit the deck on lap three, Wolves had cut the gap to five points. There was drama in Heat 10 when Freddie Lindgren dived inside Billy Janniro on the last bend. Both riders fell but referee Graham Reeve ruled no-one was at fault and Janniro recovered to push home for third place. The big blow against Wolves came in Heat 13 when the previously unbeaten Peter Karlsson took a tactical ride, but he and Hamill were on the receiving end of a 5-1 against Nicholls and Harris which clinched the win for the Bees. But the battling Christian Hefenbrock, unlucky to lose second place with a dropped chain in Heat 12, got his just rewards with a race win in Heat 14 in a 5-1 with Lindgren, before Nicholls again beat Karlsson in the final race. Magnus Karlsson took just one ride before withdrawing from the meeting with illness.

WOLVES 53 COVENTRY 40 Elite League - SKY - Nicholls bt PK for bonus point WOLVERHAMPTON gained revenge over neighbours Coventry for their Good Friday defeat with a 53-40 home win on Monday - but missed out on the aggregate bonus point. Peter Karlsson, unbeaten in his five rides during the 15 heats of a spectacular Elite League showdown, lost a run-off with Coventry counterpart Scott Nicholls for the extra point after the sides finished level 93-93 on aggregate. Wolves would have been happy simply to collect the win on the night, but a dramatic Heat 12 when Scott Nicholls failed to beat Ronnie Correy and William Lawson from a 15-metre handicap as a tactical substitute put the home side in control. Nicholls was involved in some of the most dramatic racing of a thrilling night which brought out the best in British Speedway. He took Billy Hamill to the fence in fine style in Heat 4 with a ruthless move which was hard but fair to keep his side in the hunt. The Bees always looked like keeping the scores close but William Lawson, who has made a big impression in his doubling-up role between Edinburgh and Wolves, teamed up with maximum-man Peter Karlsson for a shock 5-1 in Heat 10 to extend the lead to six. After Nicholls' Heat 12 misfortune Wolves piled on the points in a thrilling Heat 13 with Karlsson and Billy Hamill getting the better of Chris Harris, who was nominated as a tactical ride, and a frustrated Nicholls at the back. Rory Schlein kept the bonus point battle alive with a Heat 14 win as a tactical ride over Freddie Lindgren and the impressive Lawson. Karlsson duly completed his maximum in the Heat 15 decider for the bonus but partner Hamill was squeezed out in the first turn and trailed in last which meant a run-off for the aggregate win. This time Nicholls made up for his earlier disappointments with a stunning race-off win over Karlsson in a race where both riders swapped places throughout the four laps. WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 15, Billy Hamill 10+1, William Lawson 9+3, Freddie Lindgren 9, Ronnie Correy 7+1, Christian Hefenbrock 3+1, Magnus Karlsson ill. COVENTRY: Rory Schlein 12+1, Scott Nicholls 11, Billy Janniro 7+1, Chris Harris 6, Oliver Allen 3, Morten Risager 1+1, Troy Batchelor 0.

WOLVES 48-45 EASTBOURNE SKIPPER AND BILLY TO THE RESCUE! WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off an amazing comeback to claim all three points on offer from their 48-45 Elite League win over Eastbourne at Monmore. Skipper Peter Karlsson was at his awesome best to inspire his side who were staring defeat in the face with only four races to go. Wolves chief Peter Adams brought in his captain for a tactical substitution in Heat 12 which changed the match. Karlsson passed both Dean Barker and Lewis Bridger within the first lap and partner Ronnie Correy stood aside to let him through for the six-points and a vital 8-1. Billy Hamill finally got his act together with a precious win in Heat 13 to partner Karlsson to a 5-1 which put the Monmore men ahead for the first time. But there was more drama to come as Freddie Lindgren almost crashed into Dean Barker in the penultimate race and was relegated to the back as Eastbourne romped to a 5-1. Once again it was Karlsson and Hamill who teamed up to save the day for the home side with a maximum in the last heat decider after Norris fell when trying to avoid a locked up Karlsson. WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 19+2, Billy Hamill 11, Freddie Lindgren 6, Ronnie Correy 5+1, William Lawson 4, Magnus Karlsson 3, Christian Hefenbrock 0. EASTBOURNE: Lewis Bridger 14, David Norris 11, Dean Barker 9+3, David Howe 5, Andrew Moore 4+1, Andrew Appleton 2+2.
WOLVES 47 READING 44 Elite League A ONCE again a Wolves home meeting went down to a dramatic finale before the Monmore men secured the right result against the Elite League newcomers. There seemed no hint of the action to follow when Wolves led by ten points with five heats to go, and although the Bulldogs pulled two back in Heat 11 it was still a good result for the home side as Billy Hamill collected a popular win over fellow American Greg Hancock who was racing for double points. But Reading refused to be beaten and slashed the gap with a 5-1 in Heat 12, and after the teams traded 4-2s in the next two races the Bulldogs needed a 5-1 from the last heat to force a draw. Wolves were still hot favourites especially as Peter Karlsson was again in dominant form as he started with four straight wins, including a new Monmore track record in Heat 1. Reading's chances ended when Matej Zagar caused Hamill to fall on the back straight and was excluded by referee Margaret Vardy. Hamill received lengthy attention and took an ambulance ride back to the pits but was fit for the re-run. But there was further drama when they tried again as Karlsson spun and fell with Hamill laying his machine down in avoidance. That led, almost fittingly, to a match race between the two great American former World Champions, and it was Hancock who took the win ahead of Hamill to round off another thriller of a meeting.
WOLVES: Peter Karlsson 12, Billy Hamill 11, Fredrik Lindgren 10, Ronnie Correy 5+2, Christian Hefenbrock 5+1, Magnus Karlsson 4, Lee Smethills 0. READING: Greg Hancock 14, Janusz Kolodziej 8+1, Matej Zagar 7, Travis McGowan 5+1, Charlie Gjedde 4+1, Andy Smith 3+2, Zdenek Simota 3+1
