Heat 1: Dryml 56.62, Janniro, Schlein, Lindgren 3-3 3-3
Wolves won the toss and took gates 1 & 3. I commented to those I stand with that if Dryml wins this heat we will win the league! Ales made an excellent start, getting to the bend slightly ahead of Janniro and riding a strong 1st turn to push him out a little. This caused Freddie to miss out as Schlein made a decent gate of 4. Ales, apart from one shaky moment on turn 4 lap 1 quickly settle onto a fast inside line. Freddie tried everything but Schlein and Janniro team rode well to keep him out.
Heat 2: Klindt 56.52, Hefenbrock, Messing, Burza 5-1 8-4
At the first time of asking both Wolves riders flew from the tapes, but Klindt lifted as he approached the corner. He managed to get it down and as he did so he hit the corner at the same time as Messing on his inside who gave him a nudge and Klindt slid out. In the re-run Klindt exploded from the tapes with Hefenbrock coming round into 2nd. From this point Klindt roared away at the front looking very very fast. When he crossed the line Hef was still on the 4th bend!
Heat 3: Iversen 56.60, Allen, Hansen MF, Harris MF 3-2 11-6
Iversen didn't make the first jump in this, both Allen and Harris reacting faster as the tapes went up. However, his bike pulled beautifully to the 1st turn and he got there ahead. Kenny missed the gate and quickly began to give chase. Harris ground to a halt entering turn 3, leaving Hansen to chase Allen. He gradually closed in, particularly off turn 2 and was looking likely to pass on the final lap when his chain came of exiting turn 4 lap 3. He valiantly tried to push home for a point but the chain had wrapped around his back wheel locking it and there was no way he could push it for a lap.
Heat 4: Hefenbrock 57.55, Stead, Howe, Burza 4-2 15-8
A good heat this one. Hefenbrock made another great start of gate 1 and held the inside. David emerged in 2nd place with Stead in close attendance on his outside in 3rd. As they entered turn 3 David was unsure where to go and was slightly impeded by Hefenbrock (not intentionally, just both on inside). This gave Stead a run around the outside and he managed to sneak past David. David gave chase, making several efforts to cut inside Stead off the corners but he just couldn't quite get the necessary drive to do so. Hefenbrock held on fairly comfortably to take the win.
Heat 5: Iversen 57.26, Schlein, Janniro, Hansen 3-3 18-11
This was the race when Wolves fans accepted NKI! Off gate 2 he got squeezed out by the fast starting Janniro and Schlein, who immediately embarked on their team riding that had seen of Lindgren in Heat 1. Undeterred Iversen gave chase closing right up at the end of lap 1. As they entered turn 3, lap 2 Iversen went wide before switching back and forging a hole on the inside of turn 4 to pass both Coventry riders in one scintillating move. Schelin quickly abandoned Janniro and gave chase but he was never going to get anywhere near. Hansen a little back in this one, but the opposition was tough.
Heat 6: Dryml 57.92, Lindgren, Stead, Messing 5-1 23-12
Another key moment in the match and maybe in our season. Ales made a good start of 3 and exited turn 2 ahead with Freddie kerb crawling on his inside. Many expected the usual Wolves (recent times) heat leader approach and Freddie to blast away, but no, Freddie eased of and team rode Ales brilliantly, much as Sam would have in his heyday. An excellent mature ride from one so young and he is clearly taking the responsability of being captain seriously. Ales looked a little more tentative in this one riding a wider line but again by lap 3 he was pretty comfortable.
Heat 7: Howe 56.52, Harris, Allen, Klindt 3-3 26-15
A very comfortable victory for David in this one, Harris never getting close enough to mount a challenge. Klindt missed the start but certainly did not give up at the back. He has the speed but just went a little too wide on a couple of bends which kept him from making any real challenge on Allen.
Heat 8: Janniro 57.48, Hefenbrock, Dryml, Burza 3-3 29-18
Another flying start from Hefenbrock saw him hit the front, a lead which he held for 2 laps before he drifted of the line exiting turn 2 and Janniro swept under him. Ales, missed the start this time, but quickly moved past Burza exiting turn 2 lap 1 and held a comfortable 3rd place without getting near the front 2.
Heat 9: Iversen 57.41, Stead, Hansen, Messing 4-2 33-20
Much easier for Iversen this time, making a good start and moving clear for a comfortable win. His bikes looked super fast as he was even easing off entering the corners and still managed to win at a canter. Hansen took a safe 3rd place, again without threatening Stead.
Heat 10: Harris 56.75, Lindgren, Allen, Dryml 2-4 35-24
Allen and Harris off the inside gates got the drop in this one leading down the back straight. Lindgren quickly gave chase and passed Allen around the outside on turns 3 and 4. He gave chase on Harris but never got close enough to suggest he might pass him. Dryml totally missed the start, and although he didn't give up, didn't look likely to mount a challenge on Allen.
Heat 11: Schlein 57.27, Howe, Janniro, Klindt 2-5 37-29
Coventry made their move in this heat, sending Janniro out in the black and white helmet. Their plan clearly was for Schlein off 2 to gate and pin David to the inside allowing Janniro to sweep around the outside. Part 1 worked as Schlein made the start, but Klindt had other ideas on part 2, making an excellent start from 3 and blocking Janniro out. Down the back straight Wolves occupied 2nd and 3rd but Janniro kept it wound on and entered turn 3 at high speed surprising Klindt who was on the outside and had to shut-off. Janniro rode a good line and emerged side-by-side with David, even edging into 2nd place. David quickly regrouped and repassed Janniro before slowly pulling clear. Klindt again didn't give up but he couldn't get close enough to mount a challenge.
Heat 12: Harris 57.44, Iversen, Hefenbrock, Messing 3-3 40-32
Another great start from Hefenbrock, cutting across from gate 3 into the lead. Unfortunately he slightly came across Iversen who had made a decent start off 1. Much like Hef & Howe earlier, Iversen wasn't sure where to go and ended up on the inside of Hef. Alas, one thing Hef can't do yet is ride the wide line and he left a big hole on turns 3 and 4 which Harris duly accepted, sweeping round and into the lead. Iversen quickly rounded Hefenbrock and gave chase, but Harris was away and there was no catching him. Messing made no challenge once again.
Heat 13: Howe 57.69, Lindgren, Schlein, Stead 5-1 45-33
We were dreading a 3-3 in this one, leaving Coventry the option of Harris of 15 metres in Heat 14 and a possible 8-1. Many of us were hoping for a 2-4! But no, we of little faith! Howe and Lindgren exploded from the tapes and produced 4 laps akin to some of our great Heat 13 partnerships of old.. Sam/Ronnie, Sam/Peter etc.. Freddie on the inside, David outside. Great stuff from the boys
Heat 14: Allen 58.48, Klindt, Hansen, Burza 3-3 48-36
Another fantastic start from Klindt who was well clear when he violently lifted on the back straight lap 1. He did well to stay on and get the front wheel down, but by this time Allen had made his was past. Hansen shut off behind Klindt but even then Burza could make no impression! Klindt gave chase, making up about 20 yards on Allen, not quite getting up to put a passing manouver him. Cov didn't introdue a tac ride in this, will that cost them if the group is decided on race points?
Heat 15: Lindgren 57.55, Howe, Harris, Janniro 5-1 53-37
What a way to finish the meeting. Once again fantastic starts (is this Wolves??) from Lindgren and Howe. This time it was Howe on the inside, Lindgren on the outside but the result was the same as they left Harris for dead to round of what was an excellent opening night for the Wolves.

It will take him some time to get used to Heat 1, but apart from that an excellent night. Absolutely fantastic to seem him team riding in Heat 6 and that augurs well for the season ahead. Much better start to the season than last year!

Ales Dryml
Far better than anyone could ever have expected, including himself I am sure! He said after the meeting it was his best ever score at Monmore. He was hanging his head as he crossed the line in his 4th ride, but I hope he doesn't dwell on it and concentrates on the positives of his 1st 2 rides! He will be very much a gater, but we will take that if he can pop in this kind of score on a regular basis
Rating 9 (So high because of his previous record here!)
Niels K. Iversen
What a debut! Very fast from the tapes, and in the heat he missed it showed superb track craft which I for one did not think he possessed. Would have had a max if not impeded by Hefenbrock in his 4th ride. Silenced a few doubters tonight, and again, lets hope he can keep this form up, especially when the GP's start!

Kenneth Hansen
Kenny looked pretty slow most of the night, but there was no lack of effort! Unlucky in his first race when he looked about take 2nd place for what would have been a paid win. 2nd heat was tough against Janniro and Schlein, and he beat the opposition 2nd string in his final heats. Room for improvement though!
Rating 5
David Howe
Not the greatest of 1st rides, without being disgrace in it. From there superb, dropping just the one point to Schlein when he was battling with Janniro. Finally produced the goods in the big heats 13 & 15.

Heat 2.. WOW! What a way to blow away all those doubts we had all built up after his end of season performances last year! The boy has speed that is for sure, and once he learns the lines he is going to be one to watch. A bit like Hansen I hope he doesn't go too wild or injuries could follow.

Christian Hefenbrock
4 races, 4 gates. He doesn't belong in the Wolves team!! Seriously, we all love great racing, but its also good to have someone who can make starts in the team too! His score may flatter him a little as the majority of his points came from beating the Cov reserves, but he was in there mixing it all night.
