Ipswich Evening Star Witches:
Pepe Protasiewicz 1*, 3, 2, 3, 2 = 11+1
Kim Jansson 2, 1, 3, 1* = 7+1
Robert Miskowiak 3, 2, 3, 3, 0 = 11
Chris Louis © 0, 1*, 2*, 2 = 5+2
Mark Loram 3, 3, 2, 1 = 9
Danny King 3, 1, 1*, 1* = 6+2
Tobias Kroner 2*, 0, 2*, 0 = 4+2
Parry’s International Wolves:
Peter Karlsson © 3, 3, 6^, 2, 3 = 17
Christian Hefenbrock R/R
Troy Batchelor (G) 2, 0, 0, 0, 2 = 4
Freddie Lindgren 1*, 2, 0, 3, 6^, 1 = 13+1
Billy Hamill 2, 2, 1, 0 = 5
Barrie Evans 0, 1, 0, 0, 1* = 2+1
Magnus Karlsson 0, 1*, 1, 0, 0 = 2+1
We arrived in the nick of time having had horrible traffic all the way. I had stomach ache because I ate my chips too fast and the bubbles still haven't been used! Oh and Chris Louis' house still hasn't fallen down and I'm sure I saw Mr. Pastry staring out one of the windows!
Wolves won the toss and took gates 1 and 3.
Heat 1: Peter Karlsson, Kim Jansson, Pepe Protasiewicz, Barrie Evans, 59.8. 3-3, 3-3
PK gated and was 1st out of bend 2. Barrie Evans was the length of the straight behind him. We aren’t losing after the 1st heat at Ipswich!! Woohoo!!
Heat 2: Danny King, Tobias Kroner, Barrie Evans, Magnus Karlsson, 60.3. 5-1, 8-4
The joy was short-lived as the Witches pair earn the home team a 5-1 and create a 4 point lead. Magnus lifted at the start and didn’t catch up.
Heat 3: Robert Miskowiak, Troy Batchelor, Fredrik Lindgren, Chris Louis, 61.1. 3-3, 11-7
A very ragged start to this heat. Miskowiak shoots out the gate and the other riders seem very delayed compared to him. Louis stops on the back straight assuming the race will be re-run. The referee allows the race to continue so Louis gestures to the referee and then continues the race. Batchelor looked out of control so Fredrik sensibly let him go ahead. Louis again gestures to the referee as he crosses the finish line.
Heat 4: Mark Loram, Billy Hamill, Magnus Karlsson, Tobias Kroner, 60.5. 3-3, 14-10
Magnus makes a good start but Loram passes him on the 2nd bend. Good team riding from Billy and Magnus to keep Kroner at the back although it was close for 3rd place towards the end. Magnus managed to keep Tobias at bay though.
Heat 5: Peter Karlsson, Robert Miskowiak, Chris Louis, Troy Batchelor, 60.6. 3-3, 17-13
A lightning start by PK helps him zoom passed the home pair on the 2nd bend.
Heat 6: Pepe Protasiewicz, Billy Hamill, Kim Jansson, Barrie Evans EF, 61.1. 4-2, 21-15
A hard battle between Billy and Pepe. Billy was 1st coming out of the 1st bend but Pepe dived round the outside from gate 4. Billy tried to shut Pepe out but Protasiewicz squeezed through to take the lead and went on to win the race. Barrie Evans stopped on the first bend.
Heat 7: Mark Loram, Fredrik Lindgren, Danny King, Troy Batchelor, 60.0. 4-2, 25-17
Fredrik shot out of gate 4 and went straight round the outside, very near to the boards. (Almost like the move at Oxford last night in heat 14!) The Wolves fans cheer and hoorah but then Loram has to quash our delight by riding an excellent line and pass Freddie going into lap 2.
Heat 8: Kim Jansson, Tobias Kroner, Magnus Karlsson, Fredrik Lindgren, 60.4. 5-1, 30-18
Jansson almost stuffs Fredrik in the fence! Fredrik drifts round at the back obviously annoyed. He waits and has words with Jansson after the race. Kim Jansson is now on my list! (Nearly half the Ipswich team are actually!)
Heat 9: Robert Miskowiak, Chris Louis, Billy Hamill, Barrie Evans, 60.7. 5-1, 35-19
They gated and we didn’t. Nuff said!
Heat 10: Fredrik Lindgren, Pepe Protasiewicz, Kim Jansson, Troy Batchelor, 60.4. 3-3, 38-22
Wow! Is all I’ve got written down to describe this heat. Troy looked faster but was still last. Fredrik didn’t wave to the Wolves fans despite the loud cheer.
Heat 11: Peter Karlsson (T/R), Mark Loram, Danny King, Magnus Karlsson, 59.9. 3-6, 41-28
PK made a great start and it was an easy win for him. He didn’t wave to the Wolves fans either though. Maybe it’s a Swedish thing?
Heat 12: Robert Miskowiak, Troy Batchelor, Barrie Evans, Tobias Kroner (Fell), 60.9. 3-3, 44-31
Kroner fell off on the third lap trying to pass Magnus
Heat 13: Pepe Protasiewicz, Peter Karlsson, Mark Loram, Billy Hamill, 60.8. 4-2, 48-33
The home pair gate but go wide. PK goes inside and splits them on the back straight. It’s a chain really; PK tries to pass Pepe whilst Loram tries to pass PK! Billy obviously wasn’t allowed to join in as he was right at the back.
Heat 14: Fredrik Lindgren (T/R), Chris Louis, Danny King, Magnus Karlsson, 60.8. 3-6, 51-39
From the gate……I can’t remember what else happened but Fredrik won
Heat 15: Peter Karlsson, Pepe Protasiewicz, Fredrik Lindgren, Robert Miskowiak, 60.5. 2-4, 53-43
A heat advantage!! (Without tacticals in the race) It was from the gate again.
Comment/Summary:
Weather: Sunny but with a cold wind
Track: Normal Ipswich track – Not much dirt and quite grippy
Attendance: A few Wolves fans made the journey but not many
Wolves Performance: Reasonably good thanks to PK and Fredrik. The score was a lot better than some thought
Entertainment: Only a few good races – too many from the gate
Referee: Rushed the meeting through and didn’t exclude Jansson when he stuffed Fredrik
Man of the Match: Fredrik Lindgren - Did you expect anything else?
Rider Ratings: (now on a scale of ten with 6 being the average expectation)
Peter Karlsson: 9 Superb. Only slipped up in heat 13
Christian Hefenbrock R/R: - I can’t mark R/R
Troy Batchelor: 6 He tried his best
Fredrik Lindgren: 8 Kim Jansson and not waving messed up his 9 rating
Billy Hamill: 5 Not heatleader standard – let the team down
Barrie Evans: 3 Well, he tried
Magnus Karlsson: 5 Looked competitive but not the Magnus of Oxford
