We have an interesting situation developing at Oxford. At 7.30pm the bikes are being wheeled out for the parade. The track looks very well watered and VERY deep. Did I say deep? It's VERY deep. Riders are looking at it and shaking heads. Billy Hamill looks very concerned about conditions - it must be bad! Track staff are taking advice from the riders and grading sections of the track. Watch this space.
Another poor crowd - looks well under 1,000.
Magnus recalled by his Swedish Club (Valsarna) to ride in the playoffs. Call came very late by all accounts.

8pm update...
2 minutes went on at around 7.50pm for heat 1. Announcement made that the 2 minutes would be cancelled as the riders wany more work to be done on the track. Nothing has happened since. Track is "dangerously deep" according to one of the riders. Riders from both teams are concerned about it. Referee is Margaret Vardy. More when I get it...

1. PK, Wiltshire, Skornicki, HEFENBROCK(F) 3-3, 3-3 No further work done on the track and the racing started. Riders a little tentative and stuck to the inside but no major dramas with the track. Christian slid off on last bend while last.
2. Andersson, Tomicek, SCHRAMM, LAWSON. 5-1, 8-4 Easy 5-1. Riders very tentative on the track.
3. HAMILL, Watt, Howe, CORREY. 3-3, 11-7 Easy win for Billy. Watt locks up, baulks Howe and Ronnie is past. David easily repasses Ronnie who is too slow. Riders still struggling with track conditions.

4. LINDGREN, Andersson, SCHRAMM, Shields. 2-4, 13-11 Hard 1st bend from Freddie, pushes Shields wide. Andersson leads for 2 laps but an excellent move from Freddie to cut inside him on 2nd lap 1st/2nd bend. Schramm easily holds off Shields for 3rd.
More work on the track now. Wiltshire has pointed out a hole on the 3rd bend which the track staff are filling in.
5. PK, Howe, HEFENBROCK, Watt(ret) 2-4, 15-15 Chris pushes Watt off on 1st bend, all 4 back. In the rerun, everyone bar PK hits the famous hole on bend 3. Watt almost falls, does another couple of laps then pulls out in disgust. Bad move! Chris' bike fails on the last lap and he pushes home for three quarters of a lap for the point.
6. Wiltshire, LINDGREN, Skornicki, LAWSON. 4-2, 19-17 Freddie gates but great pass round outside on lap 3 bend 2 from Todd. (Edit: Freddie had made a big mistake, locking up) William on his 2nd bike and is right behind Adam.

7. HAMILL, Shields, CORREY, Tomicek. 2-4, 21-21 Great 1st bend from Billy, right round the fence, wins easily. Better ride from Ronnie who holds off a big challenge from Lubos.
8. Skornicki, Andersson, HEFENBROCK, SCHRAMM. 5-1, 26-22 Very easy 5-1 from the gate.
9. Howe, LINDGREN, Watt, LAWSON. 4-2, 30-24 Oxford gate, Fred passes Watt and pushes David Howe very hard for 4 laps. Howe manages to block Fred on every bend - more track conditions and luck than judgement (unless he has eyes in his...)

10. HAMILL, Skornicki, CORREY, Wiltshire(EF) 2-4, 32-28 Another excellent ride from BILLY who is attacking the track tonight. Todd in a safe 2nd when he stopped - puncture.
11. PK, Shields, HEFENBROCK, Tomicek(EF). 2-4, 34-32 Great 3/4 bend from PK and Adam who are both right out on the fence at full throttle.
12. Andersson, Howe, LAWSON, CORREY. 5-1, 39-33 Good team riding. Ronnie very poor.
6 down but 5-1, 3-3, 5-1 for the win isn't impossible tonight...

13. PK, Wiltshire, LINDGREN, Shields. 2-4, 41-37 Wolves 5-1 for 3 and 3 quarter laps but a brilliant ride from Todd, cuts inside Fred on last bend to beat him by a wheel on the line. Easy win for PK.
Heat 14 is Watt and Andersson v Hamill and Lawson.
14. Davey Watt excluded after falling on 3rd bend. Rerun to come.
14. HAMILL, Andersson, LAWSON, Watt(FX) 2-4, 43-41 Billy takes Andersson wide, William into 2nd. Holds 2nd for 3 laps when Andersson takes him very wide. Good move or dirty? Depends who you support!
Last heat decider...

15. PK, BILLY, Howe, Wiltshire 1-5, 44-46 PK and Billy from the gate. Lawt says David was riding for Wolves in that heat, he really screwed Wiltshire's race by blocking him on the inside. David challenged Billy but couldn't get by. Billy absolutely brilliant tonight... as was PK. Wolves win with 3 riders and little else. We'll take it! ;D 25-30 travelling fans celebrating with the riders who are delighted with the win. Thanks for following.... I know you all got the result you wanted! Thanks to Lawt - great updates.
