The Birmingham Brummies bounced back from their home defeat to Swindon by comfortably defeating local rivals the Wolverhampton Wolves 50-42 in front of the Sky Cameras.
The two sides traded 4-2’s in the opening two heats, Thomas Jorgensen doing a great job to hold off the fast Josh Auty to take the chequered flag for the visitors in heat 2.
However, the home side took advantage of some slow gating from Wolves duo Klindt and Proctor as Ben Barker and Danny King raced to the chequered flag.
Tai Woffinden looked lightning quick in heat 4 as he took victory with the outcome a 3-3, whilst Ben Barker took his second victory of the night ahead of Freddie Lindgren in heat 5.
Heats 6 and 7 also resulted in 3-3’s with Woffinden and Ulamek respectively winning, but Birmingham extended their lead to 8 points as the fast Josh Auty and Martin Smolinski supplied another maximum.
Danny King then capitalised on an rare poor gate from Tai Woffinden to defeat the Wolves man, with Ben Barker supporting him to give the Brummies a 4-2, and after a 3-3 in the next race Wolves had a chance to use a tactical ride.
As expected, number 1 Freddie Lindgren took the black and white helmet in heat 11, but Sebastian Ulamek held on brilliantly from the gate to ensure Wolves only earned a 5-3, still leaving them 8 points behind.
The two teams exchanged 5-1’s in heats 12 and 13, securing victory for the Brummies and leaving Wolves in need of a late charge in the last two heats in order to take a point with them.
However, the rapid duo of Auty and Barker gave the Brummies their fourth 5-1 of the evening which guaranteed the Brummies all 3 points on offer, and although Lindgren and Woffinden earned their second 5-1 in heat 15 it was not enough and Wolves went home empty handed.
Despite Woffinden and Lindgren scoring very well for the visitors, they really did lack any real support, with no other rider managing more than 4 points. In the end, strength in depth proved the difference between the two sides, with 6 of the 7 Brummies men scoring 6 points or more.
