Well well well. As i expected. Poole are way to strong for an under strength side and so it proved.
Thankfully there was some top notch racing, miedzinski going toe to toe with Freddie and coming out on top.
There was only ever going to be one result , it was just a case of how much more than ten.
The new format?? Well i do remember it so a little refreshing to see it back in format.
It was amazing to hear some around me saying it is a meaningless format - especially given those old souls who keep harping back to the good old 13 heat format and happiness is 40-38 days.
The only comment i can make to that is that if the format has proved anything is that the current format we have been running for a while is a better option because time has moved on.
However nice touch to have an extra heat for the reserves. Its saving grace for another chance next season.
Cannot for the life of me see the validity of the match race. Has echos of the old match races from the past but again its no real advantage to be behind and have your best man come out to face ......... the opposition top man! I guess its fairer than double points for nothing but that can be its only saving grace.
Great weather, great track, great racing, a decent crowd - and the expected result.
Until we sort out our injuries worries we are fodder like the Aces.
WOLVES -
FREDDIE - is fast becoming the poor mans Holder/ward. Awful gating, no real passion or fight ,seemed to have little interest in racing tonight. I dont know if last weeks events are still on his mind but he lacked any real energy. looked slow and happy to shut off instead of going for a gap like he would usually. This is probably the worst Monmore performance from Freddie in about 4 seasons. 1.5/5
PONTUS - a great win holding off the charging Kling in heat 8. Otherwise nowhere. 1/5
BOBBY - Awful start but got better with each heat. Was even close to Darcy in the final heat whilst Freddie poodled around at the back. 6 points from 6 rides is not good enough. That said maybe he needs more meetings to get going. 2.5/5
RR - 4 paid 5 tells anyone all we need to know if rider replacement is the answer to tai missing. It isnt.
TY - When the chips are down the battler comes out. i thought he scored more than paid 9 and was well in the thick of the action. Certainly gave Noddy a bit of a scare but he just isnt skilled or quick enough to stop either of the leagues top boys. 3/5
RICKY - The fight that i expect from all of the boys was in abundance for Ricky. Was far and away top reserve of the night and had the luxury of 2 reserve heats. That said was in the thick of the action and was our deserved top scorer of the night. 4/5 MOTM
LUKASZ - Had high hopes when he got out in heat 2 then found his steel shoe had come lose. Saved himself with an earned point in heat 14. But still baffling. 0.5/5
Poole
Holder - had no one to beat tonight. Class in abundance when behind. 5/5
Kling - Lost places when in better scoring positions. Always good value at the Green and suprised to see he only scored 3 points. 2/5
Ward - ditto Holder. 5/5
Andersson - untouchable up front, hopeless when behind. 2.5/5
Miedzinski - but for his getting out of shape in heat 7 he could well have gone unbeaten also. Put Freddie in his place in heat 3. 4/5
Ludvig - scored in every heat and looked good again. Glad he is scoring well for Poole. Dont come back to Monmore next season thanks all the same. 3/5
Howarth - Was much better than i would have expected. Great to see a Brit doing well when given chances. 2/5
We wont bother with the 2nd leg, as a formality we concede 75 - 0 (well we might get 20 but who`s counting)
