Despite the misery of dark clouds and rain around the Midlands Wolves gates opened and the sun came out, with the track being watered twice prior to the start - crazy!
The weakening of rr for Nicholls was likely to hit the Bees in at least one heat however considering Scott got 9 on his last visit rr did its job well.
Naturarlly the turning point for the meeting was the withdrawal of Bomber after his crash in heat 11. He walked off the track after being down a while and a trip to the hospital with concussion and sickness was ordered by the Doctors.
It looked like this was going to go all the way early on as both teams looked like they wanted something out this meeting.
Despite pulling 6 clear after 8 heats the Bees looked like taking a 5-1 in heat 10 until Kennett got out of shape on the 2nd bend allowing Fred thru on the 2nd lap.
Stilll looked like there was more drama to come.
however for the Bees it was the kind of drama they didnt want in heat 11. The race looked like it was going to be a classic with all 4 in contention until Bomber just picked up too much and landed heavily collecting Tai`s back wheel on the way.
To be fair the Wolves could smell a victory after that with only Larsen able to mount a serious challenge.
With Bomber probably a closer scoreline and a point would have been the result.
With 6 different race winners the Wolves certainly looked more solid.
WOLVES
FRED - Started in similar form to last week when he looked untouchable. However got outgated in the 10th and had to battle to get back on terms. Unlikely to catch the fast Larsen tho. 4.5/5
TY - Let 2nd go in heat 6 by locking up to much on the 4th bend. Took a good win in heat 8 but a night of struggle largely for him. 1.5/5
NICOLAI - An awful 2nd heat however looked more on it than last week and got a confidence boosting win in heat 12 that he was clearly delighted about. Saw off Kennett with ease in the nominated heat. 3/5
RICKY - a very effective night and looked the quicker of the pairing. More than did his job . Always in the thick of the action. 3.5/5
TAI - A decent night for the soon to be number one Wolf. Had 2 comfoertable beating by Bomber and Larsen but 2 3 wins and as usual always trying to help his team partner. 4/5
PONTUS - If he can produce this sort of form on a more regular basis then there is a chance we might pull up the table a place or 2. Looked quicker and commited and scored in every heat. 3.5/5 MOTM
JACOB - certainly tried harder than his points suggested. Beat both the Bees reserves in his scoring rides. 1/5
BEES
BOMBER - He took 2 decent wins early on but looked to have been beaten in heat 11 until the spill. His withdrawal cost the Bees a likely point tonight. Hope he is ok. 3.5/5
SUMMERS - looked quick, in the thick of the action. Scored in all his heats and could have been a match winner on another night. Good night for him. 3.5/5
KENNETT - pretty up and down night for Ed (well he was certainly down on the track a coupla times!) Had clash with Tai in heat 7 down the back straight. Bailed off the next bend but unsure if bike or something wrong. Was in better scoring positions but lost out on a couple of occasions. 2/5
LARSEN - after a slow start finished in superb style. With ease he has been the Bees best rider at the Green this season. Certainly rides Monmore like class. 4/5
rr - scored 9 points, about as expected.
Doolan - Scored his 2 points in heat 2 but that was his night largely over and did nothing else. 0.5/5
SZCZEPANIAK - Gated well to take the lead in heat 2 but dropped back with each lap and nearly lost out to Jacob come the end of the race. Chased after Tai in heat4 and it seemed he had learned a big lesson on how to ride the track. He just forgot in the rest of his heats and was mostly adrift. Started with promise ended in disappointment. 1/5
