Brum on the cusp of the play offs? Yea and my Auntie had balls too. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rated them at the start of the season but are way to inconsistent to make the top 4.
They should have come expecting a win at one of the weakers teams this season but instead limped to 40 points which was looking to be even less given the 2 chains breaks for Wolves when both in scoring positions.
That said we at least looked like we meant business from the off. Plenty of battling spirit.
Proctor closed in on Pedersen in heat 1.
Klindt chased and caught Barker in heat 3.
A comfortable looking 5-1 in heat 4 was on the cards with Jacob well clear in 2nd until his chain break meant he took a heavy get off.
Mid meeting i always feel uneasy and it looked like a mini Brum revival was on the cards.
Well done to Ty for chasing and catching Smolinski in heat 8 with Auty on a 6 pointer.
Then with Nicolai out of heat 9 Ricky running a 3rd meant 12 points were pulled back in 2 heats.
When Brum gated again in heat 10 i was genuinely fearful but then enter Super Fast Freddie Lindgren who wasnt going to let a couple of Brits beat him. Passed with ease.
With Ty Running an EF in 10 and Pontus a last in heat 11 the slim thoughts that the top 4 chasing Brum had something extra to give us in the closing stages was never really on the cards and failed to materialise.
With just 3 heat winners and no one scoring double figures they were never likely to seriously challenge us.
Any slim hopes and aspirations they have for a top 4 place must be virtually extinguished by now.
Another sparse crowd , similar to the Coventry meeting shows that some are voting with their feet.
Track wise was much better and smoother. Freddie racing within 0.5 of a second of his track record shows that it is starting to look at its best again.
WOLVES
FREDDIE - a 2nd home maximum on the bounce and is starting to look like the master of Monmore again, Besides heat 10 and heat 15 he wasnt really threatened. 5/5 MOTM
TY - Plenty of effort as always from our most honest and gritty rider worked hard for his points, as he usually does at Monmore. 3/5
NIC - Good battle to get 3rd in heat 3 and made a decent gate for a comfy max in heat 5. A potentially costly fall in heat 9 (chain break) was forgiven with a classy win as we should expect from him in heat 12. Slowly getting there. 3/5
RICKY - started with 2 classy wins and scored nearly double his average so job well done. Very nearly got MOTM Freddie just edged it with the maximum. Hard night with plenty of effort. Good night for Ricky. 4/5
TAI - looked untouchable until he got left behind fred and Barker and couldnt complete the maximum but another excellent night. Plus it was twitter 1 v gossip 1. The crowds however swayed the ecision in Tai`s favour. 4.5/5
PONTUS - was in contention in a couple of heats without really securing scoring positions. Did his job in heat 2. 1/5
JACOB - rode better than his score suggest. Well clear in 2nd in heat 2, clear in 2nd in heat 4 until his chain went and his battle, pass and re-pass, with King in heat 12 showed he is well worth perservering with. 2/5
BRUMMIES
Pedersen - another `poole like` performance from the Brummies number 1. About as interested as i was of cheering for Coventry on SKY. Plus he was pretty rubbish. 1.5/5
AUTY - nowhere in his first 2. Then sprung to life and had an almighty battle with Tai in heat 11. Deserved heat 15 IMHO. 2.5/5
KING - Steady if not unspectacular night for Danny. Dont think he even threatened to win a race. 2.5/5
BARKER - huge boos echoed around the stadium everytime his name was mentioned. Obviously people thinks its worse to gossip. . Had a decent night and certainly tried hard for the Brummies at least. 3/5
ULAMEK - a Wolves asset that needs selling on ASAP. He only beat Ricky Wells in heat 9 in a dire heat leader performance. 1/5
COVATTI - Looks a tidy prospect. Good gate in his opening race but took the corner and his team partner a little too wide. Got better with each lap in heat 6 and was catching the team riding Fred/Ty partnership. An excellent win in heat 9 was to follow. For his first time to the track i was pretty impressed. 2.5/5
SMOLINSKI - Apparently he was meant to clean up at reserve tonight. He beat Thorssell in heat 8 (failed to halt Proctor) and Aspgren in heat 14 (failed to halt wells). a rather below average performance and a point below his average. 1.5/5
The win sees us stay above Coventry. Just to catch the Brummies now.
