How can we nearly allow an Aces side to stay so close?
A couple of costly E/F`s for the Aces (hougaard in heat 3 and Perry heat 13) could have cost them the win.
In balance Freddie looked good until the fall that caused him to pull out of heat 13.
Think one thing is clear, Schlein wouldnt have got such an easy maximum.
This had a very much end of season means naff all meeting feel to it, the crowd certainly voted with its (lack of) feet. Easily the worst crowd of the season.
Just when we looked to be cruising Ty strangely powered off to the flag in heat 8, and a charging Perry took advantage - strange decision all the same.
Freddie tried to help Pontus out after both gated in heat 11 but Pontus rode too tight mid track forcing freddie to shut off, allowing Schlein to pass both. Freddie was right on Schlein`s back wheel in the chase and was looking for an early tight cut back but just did a 180 and landed akwardly.
Heat 13 had disaster all over it when Perry shot around Pontus and Nicholls, an EF for Perry saving home blushes.
Heat 14 wolves on a 5-1 when both Aces hit the fence, Lemon taking 2nd in the rerun.
Track proved quite tricky and was pretty wet. Bend 4 causing quite a few problems.
Whilst not a classic by any means there were several entertaining heats and a close score to keep the travellin Aces fans happy.
WOLVES
Nicholls - besides winning heat 6 (against poor opposition) he looked unlikely to challenge for a win. A respectable score all the same. 3/5
TY - Not one of Ty`s better nights. And lacked his usual full effort. 1.5/5
NIC - Awful first 2 heats then looked more like the Nic we know he can be. And improvement on his last performance , so thats a bonus. 2.5/5
RICKY - top main scorer which tells its own story. Clearly loves riding at Wolves and is already on record as wanting to be back. On this sort of form must be nailed on? 3.5/5
FRED - easy 2 wins and was hunting Schlein in heat 11. Would have been a 3 pointer with him in the remaining heats. 4.5/5
PONTUS - His best EL score ?? Either way he finished as top scorer and but for a little more control on the corners (when he lost places) would have scored even more. Either way a good night from him. 3.5/5 MOTM
ASHLEY - Found the pace to hot and had to give 2nd best to his Dudley team mate each time. 0.5/5
ACES
Schlein - the records say a maximum so flawless. A fit Freddie might have had something to say about that however. 5/5
Dryml - an ordinary and typical Ales performance. 1.5/5
Hougaard - equipment not working at all in his first 2 but was dynamite after that. He can ride Monmore well and this will count as a better nice with a strong finish. 3/5
Gafurov - A decent enough performance although it finished with a heavy fall. 2.5/5
Mroczka - Is this the same rider that scored 16+1 last time at the Green. No idea why but he was beyond poor. If this was an amateur meeting he would still have not won. The worst visiting rider to the Green in a one off performance. . -5/5
Lemon - did a decent job without beating anyone of any note - bar wells in heat 14. 2.5/5
Perry - could have been a match winner but certainly rose to the challenge well and has clearly grown in stature this season. 4/5
