Disappointing to lose at home but Birmingham were probably the worst team we could have faced when we were needing to give extra rides to our reserves. The Brummies are possibly the strongest all round team but lack the strong heat leaders to be likely league winners. As for Wolves we are a good team when everyone is fit and riding well. Ludvig and Jacob came up against strong reserves and Ricky was unlucky with engine problems that didn't help. If there is a concern about the team it would be the form of Adam. Probably should not have ridden tonight and we would have been stronger with Cook as guest. But Skornicki is usually better late in the season than in the opening months and hopefully that will be the case again this season.

What a fickle lot.
One week the team is the best thing since sliced bread and championship contenders - one bad result and half of them should be thrown out.
One bad meeting and the panic button is pressed. To suggest wholesale changes after one bad meeting is very silly.
We have been performing above our abilities so far and the supporters have been spoilt and lulled into expecting miracles every week. How quickly points of view change.
I have said all along, having been at the away meetings that we have been in the right place at the right time more than being world beaters - and that has also been the case at home as against King's Lynn.
Exactly where are the replacements for Skornicki, Thorssell and Wells going to come from?
Wells has always been a gater - difference tonight was he wasn't gating and had bad luck with 2 engine failures.
I said at the outset that Skornicki was a bad signing but he has done everything that could be expected of him so far until tonight.
With the side we have we should be able to carry Thorssell to give him experience and bring him through.
The track tonight was pathetic - yet again we suffered from the Spoons being at home tomorrow night. The Brummies were gating and the slick conditions suited them.

We were always going to be up against it with Proctor R/R for a rider on a 5 point average who is scoring as well has him isn't sufficient cover against a very solid Birmingham team.
I think we need to look at swapping round the riding order, as the Wells-Skornicki pairing fills me with no confidence, and we can't keep relying of Tai and Freddie to dig us out of a hole in 13 and 15 (as was shown tonight with Harris winning heat 13. I said at the start of the season that having Adam back was a mistake, purely because he wasn't good value on his starting average.
Possibly we could move Proctor to 4 with Skornicki at 3 and Wells at 2, although Ty seems out of his comfort zone in any other position other than 2.
Next Sport Radio show for me is on Thursday night at 7:45, so I'll be bracing myself for some stick!!!

I think the riding order should be changed round as it seems to me that Skornicki and Wells try and ride the same line resulting in them geting in each others way.

# We have been in the right place, right time on several occasions this season. # We have been batting above our average. Last night was a self inflicted setback. It should have been RR & Craig Cook, Adam is/was not fit. We don't need to make changes right now but if yesterday becomes more than a one off then I still don't trust CVS & Adams, despite their pre season protestations, to act. Winners make changes from a position of strength. Losers fanny about until the situation is irretrievable. Totally unconnected, anyone got any clues why EL promoters are avoiding Micky Dyer like the plague despite the scores he's been banging in?? Strange.

My oh my.
Must say I totally agree with Wolfie here. One bad result and the moaners come out the woodwork.

At the end of the day the season so far has been more than anyone on here expected, but speedway largely is about being in the right place at the right time. We went to Belle Vue, Poole and Coventry at the right time, while Birmingham rode us at Perry Barr and yesterday at the right time - likewise they rolled into Swindon last week when they were under strength and took advantage.
I'm not suggesting any changes (if we don't change the team when we're bottom we're not likely to do it when we're top!) but I think most other promoters would have gone with Cook and R/R last night as is clearly would have made us stronger and most of us knew we were going to be vulnerable - Birmingham knew not having Ben Barker would make them stronger as its not his favourite track (they got seven from his rides and his form's been poor so far), so they were happy to use R/R and use riders in form to cover him.
It was a bad result, and we need to bounce back quickly - certainly can't afford any more home defeats.

Don't think its a case of people hitting the panic button but more of the concerns about the team by many becoming reality now after a good start to the season covered up those issues.
Many thought including Adam was a mistake and I have to admit that I would rather have gone with two from Zengota, Nermark, Fisher, Robson or Michelsen instead of Adam and Masters.
We all love Adam, but have we seen his best days ? Can we see him, Ricky and Ty adding the support to Freddie and Tai through the whole season that is needed to challenge for the title.
We have Lakeside bringing in Ulamek, Beck and Ellis at the expense of Swiderski, Mear and Nilsson ..... Poole rebuilding with a more solid line up and other teams looking at making changes to strengthen and finish quicker than they started.
As for riding order, with Freddie looking at regaining the #1 race jacket for a month, I would personally think about putting Adam at #2 and hoping he gets everything in order with fitness and bikes while moving Ty to #5 when fit with Tai and Ricky at 3 and 4.
Problem is, while Ty is out (rumour is a few weeks ?) that the team can't cover for his absence in any position and certainly not at #5.
However its CARDIFF first ..... so at the moment its about Freddie and Tai .... C'MON !!

TNT,
Why, once again are you posting 'rumours' as fact.
Who is 'Beck'? When did he sign for Lakeside? When was Swiderski released? Care to let the rest of the world (including Lakeside) know?
Secondly, the signing of Adam Ellis has not yet been ratified as he is ineligible to double up due to having an assessed average.

Well Wolves are hanging on to top spot, but the chasing pack are getting closer !!
Had we have beaten Birmingham at Monmore, we would now be 7 points above Lakeside with a game in hand and 9 ahead of Brummies -3 matches. ...Still expecting a big run from Swindon
