ive come up with a way off cutting down on meetings that might suit some off the top rides
1 7 home 7 away league top 4 in to play off semi and final bottom 4 contest semi and final for trophy say lee richardson shield for example plus ko cup that gives each team a minimum off 20 and maximum off 24 matches then those promters who want more meetings can put on open or ch matches .we need the top riders not a team off double up riders and draft we need to look at sweden they have 2 3 or gp riders in a team. i dont like the draft thing only about 25% any good to me they should only elite team place if they earn it . but knowing the promters they will opt for lower averages where the no one has 7. ave its the elite so lets have the elite

Whatever happens in the winter I doubt we will see anything other than a continuation in the downward spiral of quality in the Elite League compared to Poland and Sweden. Last season we saw riders who were heat leaders in our league riding as reserves in those countries. And most of the heat leaders in those countries don't ride here at all. Maybe next year we will even see the British World Champion turn his back on Britain. So the crowds will reduce so the quality will be reduced so the crowds will reduce and then the quality will reduce........

We have Premiership football where as they have a much lower standard of football. We have some of the best horse racing tracks in the world ..... they dont There are many more differences in the countries but one night a week, national interest and sponsors make Britain a different aspect to that of years ago when those countries started letting in more foreign riders The only way forward now in this country ...... like it or not ...... is to build a product that has a full fixture list with riders that are based here and want the meetings like Rory Schlein, Scott Nicholls, Hans Andersen, Troy Batchelor, Daniel King, Kenneth Bjerre etc and match Poland in letting the reserves be British only.

That's only the way it is because of a lack of vision from some promoters. In Sweden and Poland they developed the sport and the venues and the quality of riders, and surprise surprise lots of people wanted to watch it.
In this country the direction of the sport is driven by the weakest clubs who want everyone brought down to their level so they can compete. And it's been that way for far too long. And Poole get constantly slated for wanting a higher quality product.
It's always a recognition of this is where we are and this is what we need to cut back on. It must be the only sport in the uk that has had a sky investment and gone backwards.
Rugby Union was an amateur sport not so long ago, darts was a dead sport as was ice hockey. But promoters with some drive and ambition turned it all around. Nothing against Schlein, Anderson and Nicholls but if they are going to be the stars of the 2015 Elite League is there anyone who would believe that attendances will do anything but decrease?

I can see your point DJ but the reality is that you have to form the league with teams who are able to compete cost wise. The sad truth is that if the league was run as a super league along the lines of your comments then it is likely it would comprise only 3 or 4 teams and the admission fee would be in the region of £20 or £25 a meeting. As far as the Sky investment is concerned I think it has been a total waste of time and money - Sky's involvement with the sport regarding the play off deadlines, fixture movement and the tactical ride rule has probably alienated more fans than it has brought more fans in. I don't know a single fan who has started going to speedway because they have seen it on Sky - but I do know a number who have stopped going because they don't like the way things have been messed around just to satisfy Sky. I for one hate the fact that the season is over by the first week in September now and wouldn't be at all bothered if Sky pulled out and we could get back to how things were. Wolfie

It would only be £25 a meeting if supporters were prepared to pay that. No promoter would charge that much if the consequence was empty terraces. Arsenal charge up to £97 a match for their games and sell out. Accrington charge less than a sixth of that and have a twentieth of the crowds.
I am not saying Poole should be allowed to have 7 GP riders and win by 50 points every week. That wouldn't be good for the sport nor would it be good for Poole, as their supporters would quickly get bored with that. Particularly as they would struggle to get anyone to want to enter the same league as them.
But if the Elite League is going to weaken every season then the crowds will go down every season and the sport will be on a spiral towards oblivion. At some stage we need some initiative that turns the focus onto increasing income rather than reducing costs. And that will be done by attracting the top riders not driving them away.
Lots of new fans have been attracted to the sport by watching the GPs on TV but those people are mainly Polish or Scandinavian not British and there is a reason for that cause most of those riders don't ride here apart from when Cardiff gets packed to the rafters. Lots of spoonland fans have come back to the sport to watch Tom Perry every week. How many more would come back if they were watching Hancock every Tuesday even if it cost them an extra £5 a week

34 points limit for the top 5 in 2015. So Tai, Freddie, Piotr, Jacob, ANOther. Is that a real team or a fantasy team

so no tai no berntzon so will they jst go with assets pk wells and scorniki orwill they try getting another rider with plus 7 CVS said at the talk in that they had spoken generally with Skornicki who said he has no plans to ride in Poland this year as he has taken up a team manager's job over there. CVS said that this would almost certainly rule Adam out but he may be prepared to help out if we encountered problems during the season.
