the Yozza ratings
PK.........8, first 2 rides classic PK, took an almighty shove in 3rd ride, beaten comfortably by Bjerre in 13 David....10, yes 10, the guy is absolutely flying and long may it continue, is doing it both from the back and the front..........David's talent has never been questioned, but IMHO his bottle has..........NOT ANY MORE! Billy.......7.........Billy seemed to be doing JUST enough tonight....possibly due to the knee injury Theo.....7........costly e/f in first ride, but hard to believe Theo is having his first go at the elite Freddie..8.........can beat GP riders with one hand! Will.........6........smashing first ride, but struggled thereafter Maggie...7........involved in three 5-1's, and didnt win any of them...........perhaps he's not a gating tart after all!

After heat 4 a long interval had to be allowed to allow the rain storm to pass over as visibility was restricted, but after 30 minutes or so the racing resumed and for several heats was quite eventful but very much gate and curb crawl in the final few heats.
Fredrik Lindgren & Billy Hamill returned from injury with creditable scores for the home team without ever really looking as though they were pushing themselves fully in the awkward dirt, Magnus Karlsson showed more bottle than of late to return a decent score from reserve & David Howe was again unbeaten until heat 15.
The Danish Panthers battled and each contributed to the nights entertainment with some toys form the pram action. Danny King was poor, Swinderski & Hall picked up points & battled & Lukas Dryml gave up as soon as he was forth in two rides, tried while holding the consolation point position.
The action:
Howe went from last to second on the last lap of the opening heat having being shoved wide by Dryml in the first turn having made a decent start. Howe slipped beneath the Dryml exiting turn 2 and collected second as Hans Andersen made a complete hash of turn 4 drifting terribly wide.
A turn 2 cut back saw Billy Hamill pass both Panthers in heat 3 as Theo Pijper's bike blew up at the gate. Comedy at the tapes as Neils K. Iversen did a good impression of a spoilt brat who's favorite toy had been taken away from him as the starting martial insisted he moved over not once but three times - stomps of feet, folded arms and shakes of head must almost have earned Iversen a 2 minute exclusion.
Lindgren & the quick starting Kenneth Bjerre battled wheel-to-wheel for several laps in heat 4 before Lindgren's more conservative line prevailed entering lap 3, Bjerre's bike packed up going down the back straight on the final lap. Easily the most impressive ride at Monmore from a riding I thought was a nailed on winner of the gating tart award before the meeting commenced, he would blot his copy book a little later on in the evening, two heats & probably 40 minutes of rain afterwards in fact.
Howe stalked the diminutive Dane for 3 laps and was clearly quicker, only Bjerre turned left on the start line denied Howe a dive up the inside of him into turn 1, using the cutback method on turns 3 & 4 Howe got level with Bjerre and as the Panther tried to turn back found the Wolf on the inside of him unwilling to give way. Howe got second and a face full of Dirt from Bjerre going down the back straight, after speaking with a couple of Ace's fans about him, it seems he is the unpleasant fellow they knew him to be. The Dane's final three rides were very impressive as he took tapes to flag wins in each.
William Lawson & Piotr Swiderski battled for the consolation point in heat 7, with the Pole cutting back to good effect on turn 4, lap 2.
Pater Karlsson stalked Swiderski for 4 laps before slipping by on the final lap, the profitable inside exit to turn 2 again paying dividends. Heat 12 saw Magnus Karlsson , Hamill & Iversen all arrive at the first turn together aimed at the same bit of shale, on the outside Magnus Karlsson ended up going very, very wide. As wide as it possible to go without hitting the air fence, it put the younger brother in the Wolves ranks 30 yards back. A more streetwise rider would probably have laid the bike down to get a rerun, but instead watched Iversen overtake Hamill, who gave the outside run of turns 3 & 4 a go, heat 12, going from a couple of bike lengths in front of Iversen to 10 bike lengths behind him in the process.
Hans Andersen's had great preparation for the GP's as his bikes gave up on the first lap of his final two rides, each times while the Dane was in third. The second time, Andersen did a great impression of Bruce Lee, his wrath aimed directly at something on the centre green.
A plucky Iversen went off 15 metres as the Panthers rolled the dice & prayed in heat 14, but with Magnus Karlsson sticking to the inside and Pjiper giving him enough room though Iversen caught Karlsson he was never likely to find a way through. This could cost the Panthers for the BP as Swiderski could possibly have beaten one of the Wolves riders.
Rider of the Night: David Howe, another maximum lost due heat 15. Most Entertaining Rider: Tough call this. Howe deserves a mention as does Peter Karlsson, but simply for the hilarious heat 3 start gate antics and his willingness to off 15m Tac Sub ride in heat 14 which was always unlikely to yield very little I'll give it to Neils K. Iversen. Gert Handberg team riding & David Ruud gating tart awards are not being handed out this week, simply a big well done to all riders for racing in such difficult circumstances.
Individual scorers:
WOLVERHAMPTON: David Howe 12+2, Fredrik Lindgren 10+2, Peter Karlsson 9, Billy Hamill 9, Magnus Karlsson 7+3, Theo Pijper 5+2, William Lawson 3. PETERBOROUGH: Kenneth Bjerre 10, Niels-Kristian Iversen 10, Hans Andersen 10, Richard Hall 4, Piotr Swiderski 2+2, Lukas Dryml 1, Daniel King 1.
Heat Results:
Heat 01: P Karlsson, Howe, Andersen, Dryml 5-1 55.86 Heat 02: Lawson, M Karlsson, Hall, King (f-rem) 5-1 10-2 58.96 Heat 03: Hamill, Iversen, Swiderski, Pipjer (ef) 13-5 59.24 Heat 04: Lindgren, Hall, M Karlsson, Bjerre (ef) 4-2 17-7 59.53 Heat 05: Andersen, Hamill, Pijper, Dryml (f-rem) 3-3 20-10 59.7 Heat 06: P Karlsson, Howe, Bjerre, King (f-rem) 5-1 25-11 59.4 Heat 07: Lindgren, Iversen, Swiderski, Lawson 3-3 28-14 60.4 Heat 08: Howe, M Karlsson, Hall, Dryml 5-1 33-15 60.61 Heat 09: Bjerre, Hamill, Pijper, King 3-3 36-18 60.72 Heat 10: Howe, Iversen, Karlsson, Swiderski 4-2 40-20 60.36 Heat 11: Andersen (t/r), Lindgren, Dryml, Lawson 2-7 42-27 60.77 Heat 12: Iversen, Hamill, King, M Karlsson 2-4 44-31 Heat 13: Bjerre, P Karlsson, Lindgren, Andersen (ef) 3-3 47-34 59.97 Heat 14: Pijper, M Karlsson (r/s), Iversen (t/s), Hall 5-1 52-35 Heat 15: Bjerre, Howe, Lindgren, Andersen (ef) 3-3 55-38 60.1
P'boro off gates 1 & 3 heat 1, Wolves of 1 & 3 in heat 15, think Panthers won the toss for both. Howe wore red, Andersen yellow in 15.

All Wolves riders got stuck in last night in fairly poor conditions. How David managed to contest heat 6 (and secure the 5-1) in the way he did when he was completely covered in wet shale and must have had almost zero visibility, is beyond me.
My riders ratings:
PK: 8 - His first two rides were vintage PK. David: 9 - Fantastic spectacle - totally 'balls out' riding. Billy: 7 - Lots of effort. Theo: 7 - Settling into the main team well. Freddie: 8 - Impressive comeback with fingers still giving grief. Will: 6 - Great first ride but struggled after that. Magnus: 7 - Not the quickest rider on show but three 5-1s will do for me.

Anyone else get the feeling that it might be our year ? We have yet to field a fully fit team for any length of time, have faced all the pundit's tips for champions, yet haven't been remotely pushed at home. Away form comes with confidence, and it's coming. In the past to win the league we have always had a rider show improved form (DH), a reliable 2nd string who doesnt beat any no. 1s, yet isnt beaten by a reserve (TP), and reserves who always seem to score enough, and up their game when the other struggles. Maybe, just maybe

The track stood up well to a day's drizzle but the downpour after heat 4 ruined the meeting as a spectacle. Difficult to race after that as riders tended to stick to the one drier line.
Crowd well down on average due to the weather.
Impressive Wolves performance while Peterborough relied heavily on the Danes, and then had Andersen hampered by machine problems. Bjerre was very quick in his last 3 rides, nobody got near him!
Rider Ratings:
PK: 8 - Excellent 4th lap after being pushed out in heat 10. David: 10 - As good as I've ever seen him ride. Attacked the track, fearless, aggressive riding. Billy: 7 - A solid return from injury. Theo: 7 - Impressive in heat 14 where he rode out wide in the sludge to help Magnus gain the 5-1. Freddie: 8 - Impressive, no sign of his injury. Will: 6 - A good win then slithered round in the mud. Magnus: 7 - Much improved, he looked much more aggressive and brave on the 1st bend.

Maybe, just maybe I think we look a good home side but our away form has been poor so far. I still think we're one good second string short of being title challengers, and I rate Swindon and Coventry as clearly stronger teams. I believe we will be battling with Reading and Peterborough for one of the "short straw" playoff places! That's my honest opinion - hope you're right and I'm wrong!
