Two more 2-4s in 8 and 9 as first, Boyce and then Kasprzak show us how to gate. Christian was third in 8 but bike problems seem to cause him to fall and the race is awarded. Jonas Davidsson catches Magnus on the run in next race and the gap widens. Still, it's only a challenge.

Well, i thought it would be a problem at 6 and 7 (and maybe 2) that would catch us out tonight; not at 3 or 4. The only consolation is "it's early days" but I hope that this is a blip on Freddie's radar, and just the 3 blips on Magnus'.
A few heats to go, but this one looks too far away from us already.

I think we may struggle if the bottom end arent strong enough. looking at the bees n bulldogs, their bottom end look really strong.kolod looks good for bulldogs and smolinski for bees

Storming ride from PK in 10 as it seems enough is enough. Last going into turn 3 he is first one lap later. 'Typically aggressive' is Mark's summary.
Billy does likewise in 11 with a hard first corner.
Mark is impressed by William Lawson: he is on the pace and riding the track well.

Still. 4 wins out of 11, at home, is strangely reminiscent of the start we had last year. Only hope is that it does not carry on as long....

True, but 13 and 15 can't be worse...... surely? I hope you're right and I think you're right, but that ingrained pessimism (I think it was a 70s thing) never quite goes away

Reading have not won many races at home either. The track is getting like coventry. very slick with no dirt.

Still getting to grips with the track.
Another stormer from PK in 13. Passes Pedersen in trademark inside pass down the back straight. Billy nearly does the same.

glad you took this one `8` - LOTS of work still to be done to be competitive. NOT a good start AT ALL.

Last two races from the gate.
A lesson from Poole in gating and for Wolves the need for support from the second strings underlined again.
Great night for PK, obviously pleased to be back. Billy did very well and William Lawson impressed the crowd.
But too many had a poor night.
EL starts thursday.

Hmm, yes, this one a lot more disappointing than the previous two. Hard to comment on individual performances from a distance but 2,3 and 4 scored much less than I would expect. Our tail is too long at the moment, and just not wagging.
Thanks, as ever, "8" for the updates; it all seemed very subdued online tonight.
