My, what were we all worried about?
?
I know the Aces are generally poor travellers but they couldnt take advantage of a weakened Wolves side??? - Well no.
The boys ALL rode to potential and above tonight. It was always going to happen at some stage although it might have been a different thing if a good team like Poole or Eastbourne had been in town (been there, done that).
Were we just so more pumped for it or were the aces just not up to it?
Had the under performers been given instructions to finally get it together in our hour of need or were the Aces expecting an easy ride?
Either way ive no idea either.
Interesting that the Aces fans booed PK`s every heat. Sommat about cheating his average?
Lets not forget Andersen finished with a poor average, and was Bomber lowering his average tonight?
Cast the first stone at your own peril.
Some good heats thrown in (already mentioned as the texter on updates) but what a blooming cold night!!!!!
Lets pay respects to the mighty 6
Wolves
Freddie - sublime, sublime, sublime. If only he had a true number one to beat or challenge him. 5/5
TY - Was unfortunate in a couple of occasions but gives 100% from start to finish. He was unhappy on parade as he knows he needs to score more. If effort rewarded points he would be in double figures. 2.5/5
Ludvig - Best meeting of the season so far by a mile. What a time to stand up. Looked quick, was in the mix in the first laps so thats half the battle but rode with passion and pride tonight. What a way to kick start your season. This has probably saved his bacon to be honest. 4/5
PK - looked mean and fast all night. Was caught in no mans land in heat 13. looked quicker than freddie so had to scrub speed off the corners on the 4th bend. Bomber finally got him. If only the Aces had a heat leader that could ride like that eh?! 4.5/5
Tyson - What a meeting to show his stuff. Just when the whole team would be under scrutiny when the pressure was on he delivered, and some. Got caught on the run in in heat 2 after defending well all race. and heat 14 was just superb. To hold quality behind him was no fluke. So is he STILL out of his depth?? Beating Hougaard and Cook (who couldnt pass him despite throwing everything at him) is he STILL NL class??? With sam in his corner he has shown the very raw potential in massive strides tonight.
Good to see the crowd give him a raptuous applause after heat 14 AND on the victory parade. I guess others see the slow and growing potential that others are failing too see. On a 3 point average - a gamble? YES, worth taking - HELL yes! 3/5 MOTM
Ricky - its what we should be expectiing of our top reserve at home at least 5-6 points. An easy assured win in heat 2 (when others were saying should be an easy win for Cook). But the last 2 matches he is back to how he started the season. Trying, and with potential. 2.5/5
The average lowering Aces
Harris - on an average fiddle or just average? Make your own mind up. Wasnt the usual fast tail chasing Bomber we have seen in the past. Barely gave Freddie a run for his money . 3-0 on that one. But at least managed to sneak under Pk - tho still 2-1 down on heats together. No race wins, no double figures, another rider on the average fiddle eh Aces fans? 2/5
Kling - nowhere in his first 2, sprung out the gate in heat 8 and then rode wide in heat 11 meaning Harris had no chance of a sniff at PK. Never know what to make of him to be honest. 1.5/5
Gjedde - sort of did his job, unspectaculary. Looked a decent partnership with Hougaard early on at least. 2.5/5
Hougaard - started like the proverbial steam train then seemed to run out. Really had to be given the TR in heat 10 given how quick he was but had ty on his tail more than he was challenging Freddie. Then failed to beat the (supposed) weakest reserve in the league. I like him but his progress seems fairly slow. Bit like Iversen top me. 2.5/5
Schlein - another who started like a steam train. Looked very quick early on. But as is usual if he dont gate he may as well forget about challenging. Seems to have started the season like a steam train but looks like the same Rory to me. 2/5
Stachyra - surely the next Pole out the door. Was ac waste a time of him coming to either match. Was well adrift in each heat. -1/5
Cook - certainly looks a more rounded rider than last time i saw him. Was in the mix to be honest. Unlucky to fall in heat 12 when on a 5-1 , not really sure what happened to be honest. Gated on a 5-1 in heat 14 but was pulled back. Points wise could have been much better. So no faulting the lad. 2.5/5
Stevebrum over and out.
